ANTI-THEFT IGNITION CYLINDER PROTECTOR AND DECAL
INSTALLATION (SERVICE CAMPAIGN 9A5)

This TSB supersedes 23-01-092H-1 to provide an updated anti-theft decal image and part
number, NP002-SC9A5.

 IMPORTANT
Dealers must perform this service campaign on all affected vehicles prior to customer retail delivery
and whenever an affected vehicle is in the shop for any maintenance or repair.
Access the "Vehicle Information" screen via WEBDCS to identify open campaigns.
Description: Certain Hyundai vehicles may not be equipped with an immobilizer.
This bulletin provides the service procedure to install a key cylinder reinforcement protector assembly
and installation of two anti-theft decals on the front windows.

Installation of the ignition cylinder protector requires removal of the ignition key ring
light, where applicable.
Prior to proceeding with the repair, ensure the customer is informed of the removal of
the ignition key ring light.
Standard procedure for this campaign is installment of two anti-theft decals for the front
windows, however two more decals for the rear windows can be installed per
customer’s request.

EPOXY MIXING AND PORTION USAGE REFERENCE

i Information

The epoxy syringe kit can be used for up to four vehicles. After each use, ensure the cap
is securely inserted, so it can be used again for the next vehicle procedure.
The epoxy set time is 4-6 hours, so it is best to mix the epoxy first before performing the
panel and cylinder key removal procedure. Early mixture will slightly thicken for ease of
application.

1. Use a permanent marker and make 3 equal
marks on the handle, to divide the epoxy
extraction to 4 sections.

2. Twist counterclockwise and remove the cap.

3. Squeeze 1/4(first mark) of the epoxy from the
syringe tube onto a clean surface of disposable
piece of paper/cardboard.

4. Use a plastic/wooden stick or flathead
screwdriver and mix the epoxy thoroughly until
content is consistent and gray in color.

5. Install the cap and twist clockwise to lock the kit
into place.

ILLUMINATED IGNITION KEY RING REFERENCE

i Information
Certain models are equipped with the illuminated ignition key ring. The illuminated ignition key
ring will be removed and discarded.
Certain models require installation of the non-illuminated key ring to fill the gap. Refer to the
PARTS INFORMATION on pages 2-3 and NON-ILLUMINATED KEY RING INSTALLATION
REQUIREMENT TABLE on page 6 for reference.

1. Remove the screw and then remove the
illuminated key ring from the ignition cylinder.

2. A. Cut the harness and discard the illuminated
key ring.
B. On the connector side of the harness, cut one
wire shorter than the other to eliminate cross
shorting as shown in the picture to the right.

3. Use electrical tape and wrap the cut wires onto
its harness.

4. For vehicles that require installation of the
non-illuminated ring, note the ring is installed into
the ignition cylinder first and then the ignition
protector over.

Although the vehicle is equipped with an
illuminated ignition key ring, it may not
require the installation of the nonilluminated ignition key ring. Refer to the
reference table on page 6.

Some older vehicles may not be able to have the VIN captured automatically via 'AUTO VIN'
when using STUI. If 'AUTO VIN' does not operate normally, input the VIN manually before
capturing pictures with STUI.

2012-2017MY ACCENT (RB)

This model is not equipped with an illuminated ignition key ring light. A non-illuminated key
ring installation is not applicable.
1. Mix the epoxy and let it sit while performing the
parts removal procedure.
