COMPLAINT
The auxiliary heating unit is not capable of undergoing diagnostics.

CAUSE
The “Thermo CAN Gateway” diagnostics interface was not programmed.

REMEDY
Version 1: Update the flashware of the HVAC (and MUX/EAM if necessary)

Version 2: Update the flashware of the HVAC (and MUX/EAM if necessary) + retrofit gateway
Version 3: Update the flashware of the HVAC (and MUX/EAM if necessary) + retrofit gateway + replace
auxiliary heating unit electronics unit with a new one

MEASURE TYPE
The scope of the work is carried out as part of a Customer Service measure (KDM).

WARNING NOTES
Caution: Before work scope version 1 is carried out, it is essential to check that the vehicle is equipped
with Thermo (identification plate) and that the CAN control unit is fitted to the black bracket for the
auxiliary heating unit and plugged in (6-pin connector). If not, this TI cannot be carried out.
Gateway in B2E (MUX) vehicles should be the 500 kB version: Item number A 001 446 94 29 / Valeo no.:

Gateway in B2E+ (with ASAM and EAM) vehicles should be the 125 kB version: Item number A 001 446

Operation instructions
Preparatory tasks
1.

Before this Technical Information is carried out, carry out a function test of the auxiliary heating -> 2
minutes of trouble-free operation.

2.

It is crucial that control unit ’IBH’ be unlocked, otherwise no programming will be possible.

Procedure
1.

Version 1: Update the flashware of the HVAC (and MUX/EAM if necessary) (after visual inspection of
heater (Thermo) and gateway connection where applicable)

2.

Version 2: Update the flashware of the HVAC (and MUX/EAM if necessary) + retrofit gateway

3.

Version 3: Update the flashware of the HVAC (and MUX/EAM if necessary) + retrofit gateway +
replace auxiliary heating unit electronics unit with a new one

Updating control units
Note

The sequence for updating the control units described below must be strictly observed.
4.

Parameterise the control module ’CGW’.

5.

Program the control unit ’EAM/MUX’.

6.

Program and parameterise the control unit ’HVAC’.

7.

Program the control unit ’IBH’.
Note
Before programming the IBH, make sure that pump external control is OFF by setting the
temperature control for the driver’s station to minimum and switching the ignition off and on
again.

8.

Teach in the control unit ’ICUC’.

9.

Then disconnect the diagnostics unit and make the vehicle enter sleep mode / switch on the ignition
again and run the engine briefly / start the Xentry quick test, then the IBH should be present and all
actual values must be retrievable. If the IBH is not reachable, check cabling and fuses in accordance
with the wiring diagram (IBH gateway must be connected).
