Granturismo – Front Wiring Repositioning

Certain Maserati GranTurismo (M189) MY24 listed in MODISCS+ are involved in a Rapid Update
to inspect front wiring harness and reposition it if necessary.
This action is necessary because there may be possible interference between the front fender
well screws and a wiring harness that is positioned above the wheel arch. Although the integrity
of the wiring is guaranteed by a double layer of anti-cut sheath which protects the harness in
the event of interference with one or both screws, it is still necessary to proceed with the rework
to ensure harness integrity.
This action consists of checking the position of the wiring harness and install an additional cable
tie to avoid any type of interference in the future.
We remind you that all the Rapid Updates must be performed within the first workshop visit,
regardless of the Mandatory setting set in Modis, as required by Maserati policies.
Also, for vehicles in Stock Dealer / PDI, it is necessary to carry out all action operations before
delivery to the end customer, as required by the White Book and explicitly reported in the Predelivery checklist.

This procedure is to be performed on both the front driver and front passenger side of the
vehicle.
1. Always check ModisCS+ to see if the vehicle is involved in this action and if it has not been
previously performed.
2. Disconnect the battery according to the instructions in the workshop manual:
• 08.20.001 - BATTERY - Connecting/disconnecting the electrical power supply
3. Open the front hood and carefully undo the plastic clips, remove the right-side cover following
the procedure given in the workshop manual:
09.15.185 RIGHT SIDE COVER. ENGINE COMPARTMENT - Removal-Refitting or Replacement

4. Locate the wiring harness underneath the front fender cover and inspect the entire circumference
of the wiring harness for damage or abrasions, especially the area where the harness is routed
between two screw fasteners.
NOTE: Although no damage is expected of the wiring harness, continue and carry out the inspection
as a precaution.

Technical Procedure

OK ►No damage or abrasions to the harness is found. Continue with the cable tie install Step 7.

•

NOT OK ► Wire wrap shows signs of damage, unwrap the electrical tape of the suspected area
and inspect for signs of damage to the individual wires.

Open a BOL as “support request” ONLY if anomalies are found on the individual wires.

6. If no damage to the individual wires is found, re-wrap the harness using electrical tape similar
to factory (e.g., Tesa 51036) and proceed to Step 7 (Cable tie installation).

7. Secure the harness with a new “screw-hole type cable tie” and install it as shown below:
(1) IMPORTANT! BEFORE TIGHTENING THE CABLE TIE: Make sure the cable tie is positioned and
aligned with the outermost screw avoiding positioning mistakes (2). Once aligned, tighten
and secure the cable tie to the screw(3).

5. INSPECTION RESULTS:

Repeat the procedure on the opposite side of the vehicle.

Re-install any components removed in reverse order.
