Service Update for Inventory and Customer Vehicles
Excessive Wiring Harness Length
Expires with Base Warranty

Equipped with 3.6L V6 Engine (RPO LFX)

This service update includes vehicles in dealer inventory and customer vehicles that return to the
dealership for any reason. This bulletin will expire at the end of the involved vehicle's New Vehicle
Limited Warranty period.
PURPOSE
This bulletin provides a service procedure to reposition the main body wiring harness branch
located in the engine compartment on certain 2015 model year Chevrolet Colorado and GMC
Canyon vehicles equipped with 3.6L DOHC V6 engine (RPO LFX). If the harness is not routed
properly, the engine may not start, have reduced power, shut off or stall while driving. This
condition could have other effects, including the Center High Mount Stop Lamp (CHMSL), turn
signal lights or headlights becoming inoperative.
This service procedure should be completed as soon as possible on involved vehicles
currently in dealer inventory and customer vehicles that return to the dealer for any type
of service during the New Vehicle Limited Warranty coverage period.
VEHICLES INVOLVED
All involved vehicles are identified by VIN in the Global Warranty Management System –
Investigate Vehicle History Application. Dealership technicians should always check this site to
confirm vehicle involvement prior to beginning any required inspections and/or repairs. It is
important to routinely use this tool to verify eligibility because not all similar vehicles may be
involved regardless of description or option content.
Additionally, a list of involved vehicles currently in dealer inventory can be found in GlobalConnect,
under Departments, Service, Field Action Inventory Reports (US) or attached to the
GlobalConnect message (Canada) used to release this bulletin. Customer vehicles that return for
service, for any reason, and are still covered under the vehicle's base warranty should also be
checked for vehicle eligibility.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
Inspection Procedure

1. Locate the main body wiring harness branch in the engine compartment where it exits the front
of dash.

2. Measure the clearance between the threaded boss on the engine cylinder head and the wiring
harness as shown (1).

If the clearance (1) is 25mm (1.0 in.) or more, no further action is required.



If the clearance (1) is less than 25mm (1.0 in.), proceed to the repair steps below.

Repair Procedure
1. Inspect the harness for any wire damage. Repair any damaged wires. Refer to Wire to Wire
Repair - Engine Controls and Fuel in SI.
2. Using the listed cable tie, secure the harness away from the cylinder head as follows:

Wrap the cable tie around the perimeter of the power brake booster as shown. Ensure the
cable tie is behind the flange that joins brake booster halves.

Position the cable tie around the wiring harness as shown.



Tighten the cable tie, pulling the harness away from the cylinder head.

Ensure there is no more than 15mm (5/8 in.) between the harness and the booster housing
(2).



Trim any excess cable tie.

GMCCA Dealer net price for one 43.1in. HEAVY DUTY CABLE TIE, if needed, to perform the
required repairs, not to exceed $2.00 USD, $2.85 CAD.
