PQC Fuel Tank Cover Assembly Restriction On Certain NU6 Equipped Vehicles

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:
As part of our ongoing quality improvement efforts, Effective 09/19/2012 the fuel tank cover assembly (NU6 emission
package)
Part numbers 25815572 and 25948766 will be placed on a parts restriction through the Product Quality
Center (PQC).
Please note: fuel tank cover assembly is not available to be ordered for Dealer’s parts inventory

Recommendation/Instructions:
If it has been determined you require a fuel tank cover assembly (NU6 emission package) to repair a vehicle with the
part number listed above please contact GM Product Quality Center (PQC) at 1-866-654-7654 with the

Is this vehicle equipped with the NU6 emission package equipped?
If No
This vehicle is not included in the restriction. Please Follow correct service procedures for a federal emissions
package (LEV II) fuel tank.

1. Is the fuel tank cover assembly leaking?
– If Yes
– Identify Location of leak and Email Photo of damaged or leaking area to [email protected]
– Please wait 2 hours after you have emailed Photo, before contacting PQC
– The email MUST contain the case number if available and/or the last eight digits of the VIN and an attached
photo of the fuel tank along with the words Fuel Tank Cover Assembly Part Restriction in the subject line of
your e-mail otherwise it cannot be processed and will be deleted.
– If No
– Go to question 2
2. Is the fuel pump electrical connector damaged, melted, corroded?
– Visually inspect the fuel pump electrical connector
– Does connector show damage?
– If yes

– Inspect wires from the connector to the cover assembly pass-through
– (Looking for melted insulation leading back from the connector to the pass-through or an open circuit at the
pass-through).
– If no
– Test wiring circuits for connectivity and wiring condition looking for possible open conditions
If the fuel tank cover assembly appears to have a damaged electrical connector at the fuel pump per PI0817 utilize
the following available service kit:
#19119198 – Wiring Harness Connector Kit
(Flange to Fuel Pump Connector Pigtail)
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is
resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
