Service Campaign: For certain Volvo Trucks
configurations an updated adaptive cruise software has been developed. The new software will be delivered as an updated PAR file to the ABS Module and will help reduce heat load on steer axle’s brake assemblies during an adaptive cruise control braking event. Follow the instructions below to visually inspect the brake rotors on the steer axle for excessive heat damage and update the ABS software.

Introduction
For certain Volvo Trucks configurations an updated adaptive cruise software has been developed.
The new software will be delivered as an updated PAR file to the ABS Module and will help
reduce heat load on steer axle’s brake assemblies during an adaptive cruise control braking
event. Follow the instructions below to visually inspect the brake rotors on the steer axle for
excessive heat damage and update the ABS software.

Parts Information
Please ensure to inspect parts related to the brake assembly. Refer to Impact for part numbers if parts
need replacing.
Important Part Note
Replaced parts may be required for return to TMAC. Tag all parts with the following: VIN, mileage,
hours, and repair date.

Inspection Procedure

Secure truck for service.
Place the gear lever in neutral.
Install wheel chocks.
Perform a visual inspection of the driver and passenger side, steer axle’s brake rotors.
Check for excessive heat damage resulting in cracked or broken rotors, see examples
below.
Note!
The wheels do not have to be removed to perform this visual inspection.
Note!
Heat checking marks are normal and do not require replacement.

(Example of failed rotors)
A. If a damaged rotor is found during the inspection, replaced the brake assembles in
accordance with step 5 and proceed to the Programing Procedure.
B. If no damage is found during the inspection, proceed to the Programing Procedure
below.
Repair Procedure
5. Replace steer axle rotors, pads, caliper mounting bolts, and seals with new ones,
following the manufacture’s repair instructions.

6. Connect to the vehicle using PTT.
7. Run operation 5931-07-03-20 under the Calibrate tab to update the control unit.
Tech Note!
If you are experiencing issues running operation 5931-07-03-20 reference CBR- 2042
on how to set up Vendor Configuration Programing (VCP).
8. Remove wheel chocks.
9. Release vehicle back to service.
