Maserati Ghibli, Quattroporte and Levante –
High pressure fuel pump connector Check

Certain Maserati Ghibli (M157), Levante (M161), and Quattroporte(M156) MY22 MY23 listed in
MODISCS+ are involved in a Rapid Update for checking the high-pressure fuel pump connector
female pin tension.
In a limited batch of vehicles, there is a potential issue with the female pins inside the harness side
high-pressure pump connector. This problem arises from a deviation that occurred during the
production process, leading to inadequate tension on the male pins. The procedure involves
checking the tension of both female pins by using a dedicated, specially designed tool. This tool
is inserted into both female pins of the connector to verify the correct holding force.
We remind you that all Rapid Updates must be performed the first time the vehicle enters the
workshop, regardless of the Mandatory setting set in Modis, as required by Maserati policies.
Likewise, for cars in Stock Dealer/PDI, it is necessary to carry out all campaign operations before
delivery to the final Customer, as prescribed by the White Book and explicitly reported in the Predelivery checklist.

TECHNICAL SERVICE OPERATIONS

All images shown in this bulletin are for illustrative purposes only
Important! Use only the feeler (pin tension tool) outlined in this bulletin as it is designed to
simulate the male pin dimensions of the High-pressure pump. It is necessary to check both
female pins inside the harness side connector.
1. Always check ModisCS+ to see if the vehicle is involved in this action and if it has not been
previously performed.
2. Disconnect the 12V battery by following the procedure in the workshop manual:
08.20.001 - BATTERY - Connection-disconnection of power supply.
3. Locate the High-pressure pump connector. If needed, the workshop manual can be used as a
reference for location ► 01.90.013 - CPL. ENGINE INJECTION CABLES - Removal-Refitting or
Replacement. (Steps 21 through 24 depending on the vehicle.)

4. Insert the feeler (pin tension tool) in one of the two female pins of the connector.
NOTE: The tool is designed to have the same dimensional characteristics as the male pins on the pump.

5. With the tool inserted, perform a wiggle test on the connector (simulating vehicle vibration) to
ensure there is no looseness in the female pin. Observe the tool and check if it comes out
partially or entirely.

6. Perform the same procedure on the adjacent female pin inside the connector.
(perform the test on both female pins)
7. TEST RESULTS:
•

OK ► The pin tension tool remains well anchored inside both female pins.
The pins are OK. No further steps are required at this point. Re-install all the removed
parts following the procedure in reverse order and release the vehicle.

•

NOT OK ► The pin tension tool comes out partially or entirely and is not well anchored
inside one or both female pins. At this point, the connector needs to be replaced.
Continue to step 8.

8. Replace the connector following the procedure indicated in the bulletin MAS000766.
(For details, please refer to TechDOC procedure 0.30.005 - CONNECTORS REPAIR REPLACEMENT – Warnings). the kit to be used for replacing the wiring, refer to the equipment list
described in bulletin MAS000766.

Note: Be sure to use adequate heat protection while soldering the wires together.
9. Perform a functional check to verify that the system is functioning correctly.
10. Re-install all the removed parts following the procedure in reverse order.
11. Procedure complete.
