AG has issued a Delivery Stop (effective December 21, 2022) on a small number of Model Year 2023BMW X7 SAV vehicles that were produced between September 1, 2022 and December 3, 2022. During assembly of the vehicle, a heat shield was mistakenly installed above the transmission. Note: No heat shield should have been installed. It may contact other components in the narrowspace along the bottom of the transmission tunnel.

AFFECTED VEHICLES
Vehicles which require this campaign to be completed will show it as “Open” when checked either in
AIR, AWP, Campaign Summary, or Warranty Vehicle Inquiry.
SITUATION
BMW AG has issued a Delivery Stop (effective December 21, 2022) on a small number of Model Year 2023
BMW X7 SAV vehicles that were produced between September 1, 2022 and December 3, 2022.
During assembly of the vehicle, a heat shield was mistakenly installed above the transmission.
Note: No heat shield should have been installed. It may contact other components in the narrow
space along the bottom of the transmission tunnel.
Do not deliver to a customer, a New, Certified Pre-Owned or Used vehicle subject to a Delivery Stop, until
the vehicle is repaired. Do not use or sell replacement equipment/parts subject to a Delivery Stop.
CORRECTION
Inspect for the presence of the heat shield
above the transmission.

1. Remove the underbody protection panel
following the repair instructions listed in
AIR/ISTA (51 47 491).
2. Inspect transmission for the heat shield
(arrow).
No heat shield observed: No further
repairs needed. Reassembly the vehicle.
Heat shield is present: Continue to step 3.
Note: The corrugated aluminum cover
(marked with the RED X) is not the
component to check for; the one at the
arrow is.
3. Remove the transmission following the repair instructions listed in AIR or ISTA 24 00 240 “Removing and
installing automatic transmission”.
Closely inspect any electrical harnesses or fluid-carrying lines which are fastened to the underside of the
transmission tunnel for damage, which may have contacted the heat shield.
If any damage is observed, replace the component.
4. Remove and discard the heat shield.
5. Reassemble the vehicle.
PARTS INFORMATION
For Work Package 1 and 3: No parts are needed for the inspection/no repair needed.
For Work Package 2 and 4: As specified by AIR/ISTA for removing/installing the automatic transmission.
