Issue: Some 2024 Mustang vehicles may exhibit a condition where the rear bumper cover has poor fitment and/or
excessive body gap where it meets the quarter panel. This may be due to incorrect installation and/or missing panel
adhesive tape. To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to apply panel adhesive tape and re-install the
rear bumper cover.
Action: Follow the Service Procedure to correct the condition that meets the following criteria:
+ 2024 Mustang
+ Rear bumper cover has poor fitment and/or excessive body gap where it meets the quarter panel

altered by a TSB. NVLW/SPW/SSP/ESP coverage limits are determined by the identified causal part and verified
using the OASIS part coverage tool.

1. Does the rear bumper cover have poor fitment and/or excessive body gap where it meets the quarter panel as
shown in Figure 1?

2. Remove the rear bumper cover. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-19.

3. Remove any existing tape and clean the indicated area as shown in Figure 2 and 3 on the inside of the rear
bumper cover and the rear bumper cover bracket with an alcohol wipe on both the left and right sides.

4. Apply an automotive adhesion promoter such as: 3M™ Automotive Adhesion Promoter Sponge Applicator Packet

(06396), 3M™ Adhesion Promoter (KS520UV), Norton® Attachment Tape Adhesion Promoter (04670), or equivalent

to the indicated area as shown in Figures 2-3 on the inside of the rear bumper cover and the rear bumper cover

bracket on both the left and right sides.
NOTE: When applying the adhesion promoter, take precautions to avoid contact to areas other than outlined
in Figures 2-3 as damage to finish could occur. After applying the adhesion promoter, wait a minimum of 30
seconds for adhesion promoter to set before Step 5.
5. Apply 3M™ Acrylic Plus Tape (Ex4015) as either 2 strips of 2 inch wide by 1 inch long or 1 strip of 2 inch wide by 2

inch long strip to the rear bumper cover parallel to the bumper cover mounting edge as shown in Figure 4 on both

the left and right sides.

6. Reinstall the rear bumper cover and apply pressure to the area the tape is installed to ensure the tape contacts the
rear bumper cover bracket. Refer to WSM, Section 501-19.
