Situation:

JLR Engineering investigations have found that the engine cooling fan may intermittently fail to operate,

causing a potential engine-overheat condition. Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0480-13 will be stored in

the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

Action:

Follow the instruction(s) below.

SERVICE INFORMATION:

Renewing the engine cooling fan with the current level parts will NOT rectify the customer's concern. A

new level engine cooling fan will soon be released, which when installed will permanently rectify the

customer's concern. This SSM will be updated to advise the retailer network when the new level engine

cooling fan is available to order.

SERVICE INSTRUCTION:

To prevent the above symptoms from becoming present, advise the customer that the ignition must be

switched ON within 15 seconds of the driver’s door being unlocked and opened, in every instance.

If the above symptoms are already present, then the below steps must be completed in order to

temporarily rectify the concern.

1. Turn the engine and ignition OFF

2. Lock the vehicle.

3. Wait for a minimum of 7 minutes.

4. Unlock the vehicle, open the driver’s door and turn the ignition ON within 15 seconds.
