Purpose: The intent of this technical instruction is to provide guidelines for rerouting of the engine fuel
return line and adding an air bleed hose to the fuel filter base. This change improves engine startability.

Unit may start automatically at any time even if switch is in the OFF position. Use proper lockout / tagout
procedures before inspection / servicing. All unit inspection / servicing to be performed by properly trained
personnel only.

Removal of Existing Components

Remove the existing plastic bleed port (1) from the top of
the filter base.

Remove the bolts/clamps securing the fuel lines to the
front of the unit.

Remove plastic clamps and hardware securing the fuel
line and hose to the mounting bracket.

Remove the rubber fuel hose (1) from the engine fuel
return pipe (2).

Loosen the nut (1) on the left side of the fuel union.
Retain the nut.

Discard the union (2) and rubber hose (3).

Installation/rerouting of fuel hose
Connect the existing return fuel line (1) to the tee
assembly (L).
Tighten the nut to secure the fuel line.

Hand tight + 2 ¼ turns

Connect fuel hose (K) to center fitting on tee (L) with
clamp (I)

Connect the rubber hose (1) that is part of the tee
assembly (L) to the fuel return pipe on the engine (2).

Secure hose with clamp (3) that is attached to the hose
assembly.

Secure fuel hose to bracket using plastic clamp (I).
Attach fuel line to bracket using small cushion clamp (A).

Note: Position the clamp (A) on the fuel line nut.
Clamp (I) must not interfere with the constant tension
clamp

Secure cushion clamps with screws (G).

Route fuel hose (K) from Tee and through the medium
(B) and large (C) cushion clamps as shown.

Secure the fuel hose and lines with plastic clamp (J) next
to the fuel filter.

Apply lubricant to the O-ring.

Install the elbow fitting assembly into the top of the filter
base.

Tighten bottom fitting first.
Hold bottom fitting with backing wrench and tighten elbow
to adjust position so that it faces fuel hose bundle.
Secure fuel hose (K) with clamp (H).
