Summary
Service Bulletin - The lock-up clutch cannot provide adequate holding force due to pressure bleeding down through a crack in the lock up piston. The reduced lock-up clutch capacity results in the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) and set DTC P0741 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance or Stuck OFF.

BACKGROUND
The lock-up clutch cannot provide adequate holding force due to pressure bleeding down through a crack in the lock up
piston. The reduced lock-up clutch capacity results in the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) and set DTC P0741 Torque
Converter Clutch Circuit Performance or Stuck OFF.
Acura
is extending the warranty of the torque converter as a result of this issue for 8 years or 150,000 miles from the
original date of purchase, whichever comes first.
CLIENT NOTIFICATION
Owners of affected vehicles will be sent a notification of this campaign.
Do an iN VIN status inquiry to make sure the vehicle is shown as eligible
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Check the vehicle for DTC P0741, if DTC P0741 is set, replace the torque converter.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
1. Check the vehicle for DTC P0741.
•
If DTC P0741 is set, go to the REPAIR PROCEDURE.
•
If DTC P0741 is not set, this service bulletin does not apply, continue with normal troubleshooting.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Replace the torque converter assembly. Refer to the service information, in the Search field type in automatic
transmission removal and installation, then select Automatic Transmission Removal and Installation.
2. After completing the torque converter replacement, check the automatic transmission fluid level.
Automatic Transmission Fluid capacity 2WD:
7.0L (7.4 US qt) at overhaul
Automatic Transmission Fluid capacity AWD:
8.0L (8.5 US qt) at overhaul
3. Check the ATF temperature when greater than or equal to 80 degrees C (176 degrees F).
•
If the fluid level is checked at a colder temperature it will read low or on the bottom dot of the dipstick.
•
If the transmission fluid is filled to the top dot when cold, the transmission will be overfilled, increasing foaming
and contributing to the overheating problem.
