Whats New Abstract

There is currently a repair procedure available for T680E and T880E chassis that will address issues caused by
the previous BEV2 R5.00_002 software update. This repair involves replacement of the Bendix ABS control
module with an updated version and a software update to R5.00_003.

Revision

08/01/2023: Bulletin has been updated to inform dealers that a fix is available to correct issues caused by the
BEV2 R5.00_002 update related to safety recall 23KWA and may include other trucks. Repair procedures and
warranty claim instructions have been added.

Condition

There is currently a repair procedure available for T680E and T880E chassis that will address issues caused by
the previous BEV2 R5.00_002 software update. This repair involves replacement of the Bendix ABS control
module with an updated version and a software update to R5.00_003.

With Battery Electric Vehicle software R5, the vehicle may experience the following issues:

1. The power gauge displays axle RPM instead of power draw. This is not an accurate representation of
power draw and could lead to incorrect estimations of power usage. All other gauges will continue to

operate normally.

2. Air conditioning compressor is inoperative below 10 mph and over 40 mph. HVAC blower, heater, and
defroster will operate normally to keep the windshield clear.

3. Low Air buzzer is inoperative below 10 mph. Visual low air warning will operate normally to warn the
driver of low air pressures.

Chassis Affected

38 US - Model Year 2021 - 2024 T680E and T880E chassis built from 10/28/2020 through 02/02/2023 Battery
Electric Vehicles with Meritor Drive axles and R5 software.

Action

Campaign
Service all chassis affected that enter your dealership, even if the customer has no issue with the chassis.

1, Review the attached chassis list for your dealer code and schedule your customer(s) for service if their
chassis is on the list.

2. In Service Management, select Campaign 46003 to add it to the case. If the unit is released back into
service without performing the repair, make sure to also release the Campaign in Service Management.

3. If you are not using Service Management to start repair orders, review SIR for “Complete” next to the

4. Follow the procedures below to update Meritor software and replace the ABS controller.

For repairs completed by 09/01/2024, Kenworth will pay for parts at dealer net plus applicable mark-up and
labor:

FOR REPAIRS PERFORMED BEFORE 08/01/2023:

¢ 0.8 hours to replace ABS controller and to open a TCS365 case, Meritor OnTrac case, and program the
ECU. This claim MUST include a Meritor OnTrac claim number. See Meritor filing requirements (CC019
and attached procedures for more information and filing requirements. Use Quick Claim 46003A.

FOR REPAIRS PERFORMED ON OR AFTER 08/01/2023:

¢ 1.5 hours to replace ABS controller, calibrate yaw rate sensor, lateral acceleration sensor, steering angle
sensor, perform test drive to verify repair, and to open a TCS 365 case, Meritor OnTrac case, and
program the ECU. This claim MUST include a Meritor OnTrac claim number. See Meritor filing
