Campaign Bulletin: This campaign bulletin addresses a non-safety-related condition and provides recommended technical
diagnosis and repair procedures. Apply this procedure to the applicable vehicles.

Condition
On some Model X vehicles, the front door(s) may require manual assistance to fully close the doors because the cinch
actuator(s) may not have been manufactured to Tesla specifications. The cinch actuators assist with the closing of the
front doors on the automatic door feature. The front doors can always be manually opened or closed.

Correction
Inspect the vehicle for symptoms related to the condition. If symptoms are present, replace the front door cinch
actuator(s).

Removal
1. Remove the LH front door trim décor (refer to Service Manual procedure 15131002).
2. Remove the LH front door trim panel (refer to Service Manual procedure 15130202).

3. Disconnect the LH front door electrical harness from the LH front door release actuator electrical connector
(Figure 1).

4. Pull the red tab down, and then pull the tab down again to disconnect the LH front door electrical harness from the
LH front door pressure sensor (Figures 2 and 3).

5. Release the clips (x4) that attach the LH front door electrical harness to the LH front door closeout panel
(Figure 4).

6. Remove the bolts (x8) that attach the LH front door closeout panel to the LH front door (Figure 5), and then
separate the closeout panel from the door.

7. Release the clips (x2) on the back side of the LH front door closeout panel (Figure 6).

8. LH Side Only - Flip the LH front door closeout panel over, and then locate the date code molded into the LH front
door cinch actuator (Figure 7).

9. Repeat steps 1 through 7 for the RH front door.

10. RH Side Only - Flip the RH front door close out panel over, remove the RH front door cinch actuator from the
grommets (x3) on the closeout panel carrier (Figure 8), and then locate the date code molded into the RH front
door cinch actuator (Figure 7).

11. Continue to the next section, “Inspection”.

Inspection
1. Inspect the date codes on the front door cinch actuators (Figure 9).
•

The cinch actuator must be replaced only if all of the following conditions are true:
a. The arrow within the circle points to “10”
b. The arrow is surrounded by “22”
c.

•

The rectangle has a “5”

For any other combination, the cinch actuator does not need to be replaced.

2. For any front door cinch actuator that needs replacement, refer to Service Manual procedure 11351002.
NOTE: Follow the installation steps within the service manual procedure.
3. For any front door cinch actuator that does not need replacement, continue to the next section, “Installation”.

Installation
1. LH Side Only - Flip the LH front door closeout panel back.
2. Fasten the clips (x2) on the back side of the LH front door closeout panel (Figure 6).
3. Install the LH front door closeout panel to the LH front door , and then install the bolts (x8) that attach the closeout
panel to the door (Figure 5) (torque 1.8 Nm).
4. Fasten the clips (x4) that attach the LH front door electrical harness to the LH front door closeout panel (Figure 4).
5. Connect the LH front door electrical harness to the LH front door pressure sensor (Figure 3), and then push the
red tab up.
6. Connect the LH front door electrical harness to the LH front door release actuator electrical connector (Figure 1).
7. Install the LH front door trim panel (refer to Service Manual procedure 15130202).
8. Install the LH front door trim décor (refer to Service Manual procedure 15131002).
9. RH Side Only – Install the RH front door cinch actuator onto the grommets (x3) on the closeout panel carrier
(Figure 8), and then flip the RH front door closeout panel back.
10. Repeat steps 2 through 8 for the RH front door.
