MC20 Cielo – “H node” sealing

Certain Maserati MC20 Cielo (M240) MY23 are involved in a Rapid Update to strengthen the sealing of the
area under the windscreen.
This action is necessary to seal the area which, on very rare occasions, may experience micro-infiltrations
into the cavities of the monocoque, potentially causing noise.
We remind you that all Rapid Updates must be performed at the first entry of the vehicle into the workshop,
regardless of the Mandatory setting set in Modis, as required by Maserati policies.
Also, for cars in Stock Dealer / PDI, it is necessary to perform all campaign operations before delivery to the
end customer, as prescribed by the White Book and explicitly reported in the Pre-delivery checklist
Please read and review this bulletin first before starting the procedure.

To prepare the vehicle for the rework, it is necessary to carry out some disassembly. It is suggested
to place the vehicle on a lift and then proceed with the removal of the various components as
indicated, following the procedures in the workshop manual.
IMPORTANT: Note on Sealants: Please review the list of acceptable sealants to be used with this
action, as well as other important information provided on the last page of this bulletin.

Technical Procedure
IMPORTANT: Please note that the procedure described below is for one side of the vehicle only.
The rework must be done on both sides of the vehicle (Driver side and Passenger side), perform
the same operations simultaneously on the opposite side.

Always check ModisCS+ to see if the vehicle is involved in this action and if it has not been previously
performed.

Remove the front left wheel as follows:

Remove the driver's side wiper arm.

NOTE: Once the indicated components have been removed, it is recommended to place the guards
both on the body and on the windshield glass to avoid any damage to the surrounding components.

Remove all indicated screws anchoring the mudguard (1) to the frame, present both in the front and
lateral area, in the wheel compartment area, for a total of 6 (six) fixings.

Install the wedge to lift fender mounting tab off stud to allow the application of sealant as seen in steps 12 &

windshield glass when inserting the soft
wedge as well as watching out for door-tofender clearances.

NOTE: A folded up piece of cardboard or
packing foam can be used as a “wedge”
to gently raise the fender and provide
enough clearance to apply the sealant
around the stud area (Picture 3).

12. Apply the sealant to all areas indicated in RED, ensuring that you apply sealant to all areas from the top
of the vehicle (Picture 1) and from inside the wheel arch compartment (Picture 2)

13. Distribute the sealant well using a spatula or fingers. Ensure that there is a consistent uniform and

continuous thickness throughout the area. (Picture 4)
14. Once the sealant has been applied, wait a minimum of 24hrs to completely cure. Afterward, proceed
to reassemble all the disassembled components, following the R&R procedures in reverse order.
15. Perform a water test and thoroughly check for any water leaks.
16. Procedure complete.

11. Clean the area by blowing the whole area with an air gun and use a heptane-soaked wipe, such as
HEPTANE SOCOSAT 723136811 or a similar detergent, to remove any type of debris in the area indicated
in RED.

IMPORTANT: Note on Sealants
TECHNICAL SERVICE OPERATIONS

The following information provided is only in case this rework is being performed at the same
time with other repairs such as windshield replacement or Rapid Update actions that involve
sealants.
All sealants listed in the table below can be used. However, it is highly recommended and
preferable to use the products listed in GREEN.
ONLY IF NECESSARY: The silicone sealants listed in ORANGE can be used but there are “special
conditions” that MUST be considered when using these products. (See “Sealant compatibility”
for details)

SPECIAL CONDITIONS: If a silicone-based ORANGE sealant is to be used:
a) Wait at least 48 hours after installing the windshield or other processes involving the use of adhesives
listed in GREEN.
b) Do not perform the rework if adhesives listed in GREEN are being used in the same environment in
the last 48 hours. Example: Another vehicle in close proximity or in the same facility that had repairs
performed using adhesives in GREEN.
NOTE: Of course, for this rework, any sealant listed in GREEN can be used in conjunction with other
sealants listed in GREEN that were used for other repairs, such as windshield replacement or other actions.

compromise the effectiveness of both
