UPDATE FROM WARRANTY OPERATIONS
Hello Team,
As you know, Dealer Incident Detection – Incident (DID-I) provides a method for Stellantis Technicians to share
technical information relating to a vehicle concern prior to a Technical Service Bulletin.
This application allows dealers to upload appropriate photos and videos to help pinpoint a vehicle concern. The
purpose of a photo is to further illustrate a quality concern that cannot be fully communicated by words alone.
Please remember to keep your DID-I comments brief and factual.
In the below examples, the difference of explaining the failure (cause) versus explaining the failure and adding a
photo proves the old saying, “a picture is worth a thousand words”.

By using the DID-I process, you play a major role in helping the Quality organization and allowing the assembly plant
to resolve a concern quicker. Using the DID-I avoids utilizing Digital Imagining for the sole purpose of capturing
images. More and more dealers are utilizing DID-I. Through February we averaged 32 submissions per day
compared to 14 submissions per day in 2022.
If you have used DID-I to submit concerns and images, we thank you for sharing with us and if you have not, we
ask you to consider utilizing DID-I to share concerns while you are performing repair diagnostics for a vehicle
concern.

A/C Performance Test
An Air Conditioning functional check is a part of
the Pre-Delivery Inspection. If a system is
found to be low or without refrigerant, the leak
must be diagnosed and corrected prior to
delivery to the customer.

/Section 24 - Heating and Air Conditioning /
Diagnosis and Testing / A/C PERFORMANCE.
The A/C PERFORMANCE test will help the
technician determine if the vehicle is operating
to specifications or not and avoid unnecessary
repairs. It is important to record the pressures
and temperatures during this test. Only if the
system is found empty, it is suggested to add
dye and run the A/C system for 10 minutes
before performing the leak check.

All Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, RAM brand vehicles
leave the factory with dye added to the
Receiver Dryer. It is vital to operate the A/C
system while completing the required four-mile
test drive to allow enough time to circulate the
factory dye. If a performance issue is found
during the test drive, please perform an A/C

Use of A/C Recovery with Long Block Replacements
The WCC has been seeing increased cases of
dealers using the A/C Recovery LOP with Long
Block replacements when it is not needed.
Some Long Blocks may require the A/C
recovery, where others do not require it.
Technicians should always validate if an A/C
recovery is required within the repair
procedure found on Service Library. The Long
Blocks that do not require recovery, the
removal procedure states to “remove the
Compressor and position aside” (see Figure 1).

When you review the Compressor removal
procedure, it states you can “remove and
position aside WITHOUT discharge” (see Figure
2). To increase your Claims Paid First
Submission (CPFS), this should be validated
before submitting the claim. Claims which have
the A/C Recovery LOP when it is not needed,
will be returned to the dealership to have the
A/C LOP removed.

Ram 1500 Infotainment Exchange Program
Replacement infotainment displays are available
via the Audio Exchange Program. On some
RAM 1500s equipped with the 12” touchscreen
display (Sales Code RFA), there may be a “Z”
part alternative available for ordering. Refer to

the Audio & Electronic Products Exchange
Process Guide found under the Parts tab on
Dealer Connect for ordering instructions. For
repairs on sold units under warranty, exchange
units must be ordered when available.

Powertrain Pre-Authorization Matrix

powertrain

preauthorization based on SmartWarranty levels.

When viewing the Matrix, please see the
additional information, in small print, provided
at the bottom identified by asterisks (*).

* PHEV and 8F30 Transmissions approved by STAR do not require PTSC Approval

“Fraying” eTorque Belt
Have you seen a Tech comment that states the
MGU serpentine belt is “fraying”? STAR Online
case S1808000186 explains that that due to the
material the eTorque belt is made of, the
“fraying” is normal and belt replacement is not

necessary.
If belt replacement is necessary, the belt
capacity adaption reset must be completed and
is part of the replacement LOP.

Wiring Connector Part Number Look Up
Did you know the wiring diagram in Service
Library provides the part number for a
connector to determine if the part is available
from Mopar? Connector information is found
under the “Show Line View” or “Show

Connector View”. Each line in the connector
view provides details about the connector that
can be used to identify, locate, and repair the
connector.

Oil Change Monitor Displaying Prematurely – Alfa Romeo Vehicles
Some dealers are not following the process
outlined in TSB 01-001-22 which addresses the
concern of resetting the Oil Life Monitor and if
necessary, changing of the engine oil and filter.
Not following this process is resulting in new

owners receiving an oil change light in the first
few months of ownership.
Dealers are
changing the oil and charging this as a warranty
claim when it should have been resolved at PDI.

The TSB specifically tells the Dealer at PDI to:

If less than 365 days since build and under 150 miles: Reset Oil Life
If more than 365 days since build or over 150 miles: Change Oil

MY ‘23 – JT/ JL/ DT/ DS/ DJ/ D2/ LA/ LD – Recording Tire Data and
Wheel Part Numbers During a Tire Balance
For us to understand issues surrounding
Tire/Wheel balance, we are asking for your help
to record the wheel part number stamped on
the back, inside of the wheels, and the tires’
DOT data, of the wheel and tire being balanced
in the narrative of the warranty claim.
Below is where to find this information on the
vehicle:

Tire DOT number:
All tires have an identification number that
begins with the letters DOT (Department of
Transportation) located on the tire sidewall
near the rim. This mark confirms that the tire
meets the U.S. Department of Transportation’s
guidelines and the National Highway Traffic
Safety Administration (NHTSA) tire safety
standards. It consists of the following 4 sets of
codes:

Wheel part number:
The wheel part number is stamped in the back of the wheel and consists of 8 digits that ends with AA, AB
(see screenshots below)

MY 2021 – 2023 – JT/ JL/ WL/ DT/ WD – Removal of the Engine
Cover on 3.6L Engines
Following an increase in dealer inquiries
regarding missing engine covers from both the
WL and JL using the 3.6L Engine, the Stellantis

Service team is working to notify the extended
dealer
network
regarding
appropriate
application of engine covers on vehicles.

WL 3.6L:
Since launch of the WL with the 3.6L engine,
the engine cover has only been applied to the
Summit and Overland trim grades. Vehicles
built with the 3.6L engine in the Laredo and
Limited trim grades DO NOT have an engine
cover applied. Please note that this notice is
NOT applicable to the other engine variants,
which receive an engine cover.

JL / JT 3.6L:
For the Wrangler and Gladiator equipped with
the 3.6L engine, the engine cover was removed
on 11/06/2021. Following this point, no vehicles
were built with the engine cover.

WD 3.6L:
For the Durango, the engine cover is slated to
be removed at the end of August of 2022
(08/29/2022). From this point on no Durango’s
built with the 3.6L Engine, regardless of trim
grade, will be built with an engine cover.

DT 3.6L:
For the Ram 1500, the engine cover is scheduled to
be removed 05/22/2022. From this point on no Ram
1500’s built with the 3.6L Engine, regardless of trim
grade, will be built with an engine cover. Please note
that prior to the 100% removal of the cover, it was
NOT applied to high fuel efficiency versions of the
truck.
