Grecale: Front Brakes Noise with Brake Pedal
Released

The purpose of this bulletin is to provide diagnostic guidance for a possible "front brake noise while driving
the vehicle at a constant speed with the brake pedal released (not pressed)” concern.
A video titled “Grecale Front brake noise EXAMPLE.mp4” is included with the bulletin showing an example
of the noise in question.
This behavior has only been observed on vehicles equipped with OPT 2AE (performance braking system),
i.e. Grecale GT and Modena. No cases have been reported related to Grecales with OPT BNN (high
performance braking system with drilled discs), installed on Grecale Trofeo.

CHECKLIST:
1.
Check if the noise can be reproduced.
2.
With wheels still mounted, perform a visual inspection of the front brakes and document
(including pictures) any damage or signs of intensive use.
3.
Remove the front pads from the calipers and inspect the friction surfaces of the discs and pads.
Check for possible foreign objects (e.g., small rocks) between the friction surfaces that may
have caused scratches, as well as signs of intense braking (such as bluish discoloration of the
discs, vitrification or hardening of the pads, or a whitish appearance on the side surface of the
friction material).

If the pads and discs show no anomalies, reassemble the pads, apply copper grease
(MOLYKOTE CU-7439) on the lateral edge of the pads. Always use the special tool 900030613 to
ensure the correct positioning of the retaining springs and prevent any deformation.
Note: A video titled: “Grecale Front Brake Pad Removal and Install.m4v” is included with the
bulletin in Modis illustrating the correct procedure described above.
5.
Perform a road test to confirm the good outcome of the repair.
6.
If the issue persists even after the actions described above, open a BOL as “SUPPORT REQUEST”
and attach, and report all the information collected throughout all the above checks including
all photos taken.
