SITUATION
With the introduction of BMW Remote Software Upgrade, all Service Pack 18 vehicles and partial Service
Pack 15 vehicles may receive new functionalities or modifications in their features with a new Software
Update. These are performed either via-

This bulletin summarizes the changes per Software Update and shall providing support for informing the
customer about the intended functional changes.
After vehicle programming via ISTA or Remote Software Upgrade (RSU) with the model-dependent I-Level
S18A-21-03-5xx or S15A-21-03-5xx, the customer complains that some functions have changed in their
vehicle.
All vehicles with some of the following optional equipment are affected:

Future integration of new functions or operating concepts in the vehicles to maintain the vehicles at the

1. Amazon Alexa Car Integration: Alexa, add toothpaste to my shopping list!
The Amazon voice service in your BMW, just as you are used to with your Alexa-compatible devices at home. Add items to your shopping list, check the status of your
Amazon order or view the latest football results while in your vehicle. All on the move and without your hands needing to leave the steering wheel. Simply say "Alexa"
followed by your voice command: "Alexa, who's the President of the USA?" or "Alexa, add toothpaste to my shopping list!" You can now also operate your smart
home from your BMW by voice command. Just say "Alexa, open the garage!" to get into your house with dry feet.

2. Your personal driver profile in your BMW: Scan the QR code and get started!
Have you already installed the new My BMW app? Then it's easy to create your own personal driver profile:
Go to "Add Driver Profiles," select the "Log in via My BMW app" option and scan the QR code displayed with the My BMW app. Whether in your own BMW or a rental
car, your air-conditioning and navigation settings, like your home address, recent destinations, favorites and more are quickly and securely transferred to the vehicle.
Create a profile for each vehicle user and your personal settings such as seat position, door mirrors, preferred driver assistance settings and much more are
automatically saved in your personal profile. If you link your profile to your vehicle key, you will even be personally welcomed and will see your personal settings as
soon as you unlock the vehicle.

1. BMW M Laptimer: Make your performance measurable!
Redefine driving pleasure on the racetrack. The BMW M Laptimer helps you to improve your driving style and performance on the racetrack and, while driving around
the track, you can record lap times, the current driving time or the distance traveled at any time. After driving, you can analyze your performance in comfort because
the BMW M Laptimer collects sensor data directly from your vehicle and analyzes this data to provide you with useful information.
(Note: Use of vehicle on racetrack in a competitive event may void the vehicle warranty or the coverage for certain parts.)

1. BMW Maps (affected are all vehicles equipped with the Operating System 7 – ID7, from I level 20-07)
Background:
BMW Maps makes navigation easier, faster and more precise with cloud-based route calculation. The route structure is improved in several ways: Traffic updates in
real time, greater coverage of traffic bulletins, much more accurate forecast of arrival times.
Customer perception:
The destination input is located in the "Search" menu item. This is intuitively designed with a free search box for street, location and country. Points of Interest
("POIs") can also be entered directly, for which additional pictures, ratings and opening hours are displayed.

November 11, 2020)
The music services "Deezer" and "Napster" are no longer part of Connected Music as of November 11, 2020.
Connected Music can still be used via the "Spotify" provider. "Deezer" and "Napster" can still be used via Apple Car Play or Android Auto as well as via a
Bluetooth connection.

3. Roadside parking lights functional deletion for all BMW X5s and X6s
The one-sided roadside parking lights are omitted due to a legal requirement for vehicles over 2 m wide.
This affects the X5 and X6 series. To illuminate a parked vehicle, the parking lights on both sides must be used instead.
The two parking light switches (see illustration) remain in the vehicle but have no function.

1. BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant (additional personalization)
To be able to use BMW Personal Assistant, you have to log in using your driver profile first. After logging in, you can enter your personal activation word in your BMW.
This update allows you to adjust the behavior of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. For example, depending on who is in the vehicle and where you are going,
you can decide how the Assistant behaves. You can choose whether incoming notifications are displayed normally, shown only to you, or hidden completely. You can
see which setting is currently active by the notification icon in the in-car status bar. The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant requires you to log into your profile.
All services and settings for your BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant can now be accessed directly in its own menu. Please review the new video in the user manual in
the vehicle.

You now have the chance to learn even more about your BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. This functional enhancement allows you display examples of
commands that you can give your Personal Assistant. The display is regularly updated in short time intervals. Tap the widget on your BMW control display to go
directly to the settings of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. You decide how extensive your widget should be. It is available in two control display sizes and you
can activate it in the main menu.

Listen to your favorite songs, playlists and audiobooks easily on the go and use Spotify via BMW Connected Music, just as you do at home or on your smartphone.
Log in using your personal Spotify Premium account information on your vehicle. In addition, you can control the music in the vehicle via Spotify Connect on your
logged in smart device.
