This document modifies the
Volkswagen Warranty Policies
and Procedures Manual.

Policy Modifications
In order to simplify processes, reduce complexity, and remove unnecessary Volkswagen Field
involvement, the below sections of the Volkswagen Warranty Policies and Procedures Manual are
amended as follows:
Section 2.4.3 Reimbursement of Sublet Repairs
 “A part not offered in the VWoA Parts Program is one that is obtained from an outside vendor that
meets all Volkswagen standards of quality and safety and is approved by your FOM/QTM.”
Section 3.8 Audio Direct Exchange
 The section name is changed to “Audio” and is subdivided into section “3.8.1 Direct Exchange” and
section “3.8.2 Non-Direct Exchange” (formerly section 3.47)
Section 3.10.1 Policy for All Vehicle Battery Warranty Claims
 “If the DIN rating is not readily available on the battery, only then can Test Type "SERVICE" [VAS
6161] / "OTHER" [MCR340V/inCHARGE 940] be selected. Test Type "SERVICE" [VAS 6161] /
"OTHER" [MCR340V/inCHARGE 940] gives options for entering either the SAE rating or the DIN
rating for the battery test.”
Section 3.10.2 Battery Test and Maintenance Procedures
 “The defective battery may require inspection by your FOM.”
Section 3.15 Cabrio and Convertible Top/Camper Top Repairs
 “All repairs to Cabrio/convertible tops and camper roofs require prior FOM authorization.”
Section 3.23 Emergency Repairs
 “If Management is uncertain, the FOM should be contacted.”
 “If non-genuine Volkswagen parts are used, FOM authorization must be obtained prior to
reimbursing the owner.”
Section 3.27 Filters Installed on Non-Volkswagen Vehicles
 Section 3.27 is obsolete and deleted in its entirety.

Warranty Information
Section 3.36 Mufflers – Aftermarket Limited Lifetime Warranty
 “If a Volkswagen Factory Replacement Part has been discontinued, the dealership should contact
their FOM for assistance in selecting a comparable aftermarket component, which will be
warranted for the duration of the warranty.”
Section 3.47.3 New Radios/CD Units When Remanufactured Radios/CD Units Are Not Available
 “Receive prior authorization from your FOM for new radio/CD unit.”
Section 3.50 Repairs Completed at or Near Warranty Expiration
 “If the delay in completing the repair was due to a Volkswagen parts back-order, contact your FOM
and provide verification of the parts back-order. Remember, you must follow proper ordering
procedures - contact your PDC if you have ordering questions. Your FOM will review the situation
and, if merited, provide claim authorization prior to claim submission.”
“In order to support your claim, several documents must be retained and made available upon
request. These include, but are not limited to:
 Local special order form (if used)
 Print of the screen supplying sales documentation number
 Packing slip”
 Any document supporting the backorder
Authorized claims must be submitted within 30 days of the repair date. If more than 30 days have
elapsed, contact your FOM for a new authorization.”
Section 3.51 Repurchased (Reacquired) Vehicles
 “Volkswagen reacquired vehicle information is in the Vehicle History showing 497000 as the
DISTDLR and OPERATION "SCV2".”
 Added “If the vehicle is no longer covered by its original warranty, use claim type 210 and enter 0%
in the “labour”, “material”,” outside labour” and “outside material” fields in SAGA.”
Section 4.1 New Vehicle Receipt
 In the “Misbuilt Vehicles” section:
 “Area Team” is changed to “Region Sales Operations Team”.
 Added “Missing or incorrect equipment identified as optional on the Monroney Label is not
claimable under warranty.”
Section 4.2 Vehicle Inventory Storage/Maintenance
 In the “Storage Damage after Delivery to Dealer – Prior to Sale” section, “Area Team” is
changed to “Region Sales Operations Team”.
Section 5.2.2 Denial of Certification Request/Cancellation
 “Vehicle requires inspection by a Volkswagen FOM/QTM”
All other provisions of the above policies are unchanged and remain in effect. These policy modifications are
effective immediately and will be incorporated in the next revision of the Volkswagen Warranty Policies and
Procedures Manual.
