1.0 – Introduction
From ODIS Service installation version 1.2.0 onwards, diagnostic application files are no longer
shared with VAS-PC.
As a result, ODIS Service and VAS-PC can both be uninstalled and reinstalled independent of one
another. Furthermore, new installations of ODIS Service DO NOT require VAS-PC Base version 19.01.01
as a prerequisite. Stand-alone installations of ODIS Service are now possible and encouraged.

2.0 – ODIS Service Uninstallation & Reinstallation
Prior to uninstallation and reinstallation, always determine the latest ODIS Service installation version
DVD: > ServiceNet > Workshop Equipment > ODIS Service > ODIS Service > Software. Always look
for the latest installation instructions posted!
1. Obtain the latest version ODIS Service installation DVD.
2. Uninstall ODIS Service:
From the Windows desktop, go to:
- Start > Programs > ODIS Service > ODIS Service Uninstallation Program
or
- Uninstall ODIS Service using the applicable Windows “Add or Remove Programs” utility.
3. When prompted, remove all licenses, MCD projects, diagnostic logs etc.
4. Reboot the diagnostic device when prompted.
5. Manually delete all Softing D-PDU API files:
From the Windows desktop, go to:
- Start > Programs > Softing D-PDU API for VCIs > 1.10.0XX > Uninstall
There may be more than one D-PDU API file listed.
6. Follow the uninstallation routine for ALL the 1.10.0XX files.
7. Reboot the diagnostic device.
Note:
We recommend performing the Windows CHKDSC utility prior to reinstallation.
8. Reinstall the latest version of ODIS Service as per the version installation instructions on ServiceNet.

Service Information
3.0 – Uninstallation & Windows® Recovery
If it is necessary to recover the diagnostic device’s operating system, use the following sequence:
1. Obtain the latest version ODIS Service installation DVD.
2. Recover Windows® as per the applicable diagnostic device recovery instructions posted on ServiceNet.
Note:
We recommend performing the Windows CHKDSC utility prior to reinstallation.
3. Reinstall the latest version of ODIS Service as per the version installation instructions on ServiceNet.
4. Re-import the ODIS Service Security Certificate from the original or backed-up USB flash drive as per
the ODIS Service installation “Phase 3” instructions on ServiceNet.
5. On laptop and tablet devices, install and configure the VAS 5054A Transmitter Head as per the
applicable instructions on ServiceNet.

4.0 – Post-Reinstallation Updates
If ODIS Service (from V1.2.0) was uninstalled and reinstalled, any available online updates issued must
also be installed.
As the volume of available online updates may be significant, and the application and diagnostic database
files must always be kept up-to-date, service personnel tasked with administering ODIS Service software
should schedule update downloads and installation in accordance with the workshop schedule, i.e.: after
hours, weekends etc.
