Management of FOTA Campaigns in Modis CS+

Dear all,
Since the first Firmware Over-The-Air (FOTA) update activity was released in December 2020 (MAS002429),
over 80,000 software packages have been successfully installed in Maserati vehicles equipped with OverThe-Air technology.
Until a few years ago, it was necessary to physically take the vehicle to the dealership to perform each
update. However, with the introduction of Over-The-Air (OTA) technology, Maserati vehicles can now be
updated and enhanced remotely, resulting in an improved product experience.
Currently, only the ETM and TBM modules can receive FOTA updates, with 95% of these modules being
updated quickly and easily. However, the remaining 5% not updated, maybe due to technical reasons
and must be manually updated at the dealership.
It is now possible to verify whether a vehicle is eligible for a FOTA (Firmware Over-The-Air) update or not.
We have upgraded the Modis CS+ system, enabling you to efficiently handle any issues related to OTA
updates while providing the utmost support and transparency.
Please read and review this bulletin first before starting the procedure.

Q. How do I know if there is a FOTA Update for the vehicle?
A. In the Service Entry, active FOTA updates are highlighted with a dark gray background in the
Campaign tab. FOTA updates that have been completed are marked with "FOTA UPDATE" under
the "Dealer" column.

Active FOTA Updates (row with dark gray background):

A FOTA update is currently available but has not yet been performed or completed.

FOTA Update completed:

A FOTA update has been completed and is marked with “FOTA UPDATE” under the “Dealer Column”.
NOTE: The "FOTA UPDATE" status under the Dealer column may not appear immediately after a successful
update has been completed on the vehicle. It may take several weeks for the update to be reflected in the
Service Entry. Therefore, the dates shown may not perfectly coincide. Additionally, there is no further action
needed if a vehicle has undergone a successful update but still has not registered in Modis.

Q. For which cases can I enter a warranty claim?
A. FOTA updates cannot be claimed, which is why the system inhibits the sending of claims for rows
with a dark gray background. Rows with white and light gray backgrounds can be claimed
according to the scheme indicated in the relevant Rapid Update bulletins, which may be
updated from time to time.

Q. What should I do if there is an active FOTA available for
the VIN but the control unit has not yet been updated?
A. If Modis reports an active FOTA (row with a dark gray background) but the vehicle has not been
updated and no pop-up message has appeared on the display, this could indicate a technical
problem that needs to be investigated. Before contacting the BOL team for further diagnosis and
instructions on how to proceed, please check that the preconditions are satisfied (battery level
>70%, 4G/GPS coverage, and key inside the cabin).
