1.0 – Introduction
Microsoft support of the Windows XP® operating system ends April 8, 2014. From this date onwards, all
commercial and consumer based computing devices that continue to run on Windows XP may be exposed
to potential security and vulnerability risks.
As Windows XP operating system function and performance shortcomings that result from security and
vulnerability issues will no longer be resolved by Microsoft, we recommend that applicable VAS diagnostic
devices migrate to the Windows 7® operating system. We informed and previewed the entire migration
process in our USA VW Dealer Communication email of October 30.
The Dealer Communication also specified that VAS 5051B diagnostic consoles and VAS 5052A diagnostic
tablets are not capable of Windows 7 migration, and that migration is not recommended or supported on
VAS 6150 diagnostic laptops due to potential performance issues.
The Volkswagen Special Tool & Equipment program is committed to assisting. Over the last months we
have worked to provide affordable, flexible options for replacement device purchases. We are pleased to
announce the results of our efforts with this document.
The special pricing and purchase option programs described in the following sections are in effect
for orders placed from November 1, 2013 through March 1, 2014.

2.0 – Special Pricing
2.1 – Overview
We have assembled a variety of replacement device package suggestions for your consideration.
Package suggestions are based on mixing and matching 7 individual components. These package
suggestions cover a range of price points with option savings from $400 - $1200. This allows dealerships
the flexibility to choose according to the individual needs of their workshop.
Refer to the Replacement Device Matrix in Section 2.2 on Pages 2 and 3 for special pricing details
and important application Notes.
After deciding what individual components or packages best suit the needs of the workshop, we offer two
purchase program options:

The initial supply of VAS diagnostic devices listed above will be shipped with Windows XP. Windows 7
migration instructions for all applicable diagnostic devices will be posted on ServiceNet when the
device-specific Windows 7 installation DVDs are sent to dealers.

3.0 – Purchase Options

Purchases Made Over Time – Regular Catalog Prices

website.

• VWGoA debits Dealer Parts Account with twelve (12) equal payments on a monthly installment
basis. For details refer to Section 3.1 – Page 4.

3.1 – Monthly Installment Option – Step-by-Step
Following is a step-by-step preview of the ordering and administration process:

2. Navigate to www.tools.vw.com
3. Logon, then click the Diagnostic Tool Installment Options link on the main page:

individual part number links:
5. To place an order, click the “Click here to order and see other options” link under the item price.

6. Decide now to “build” one or more of the packages suggested in the Section 2.2 Matrix tables, or only
order an individual item.

7. Read and understand the Terms of Purchases Made Over Time information in the page header.
8. Select the purchase terms checkbox. Note that orders cannot be placed if the box is not checked.
9. Select the applicable “Add To Cart” checkbox for a desired item, and additional checkboxes if building
a package as suggested in the Section 2.2 Matrix. These will be highlighted.
10. Click “Proceed To Checkout” to submit the order:

appropriate. When complete, select “Proceed to Checkout”

12. A Checkout Form is displayed. Confirm and enter the information as appropriate to the dealership:

Enter the Billing Information. Required fields are first and last name, email address and
phone number. Note that the Payment Method dropdown is limited to Parts Billing only.

3.2 – Billing Information
On acceptance of the terms of purchase and receipt of the order as described above, the invoice is
transferred to VWGoA. The total amount of the invoice is then calculated for twelve (12) equal payments.
VWGoA then administers a recurring debit of the Dealership Parts Account for payments over a twelve
(12) month period. Monthly installments will appear on the Dealership Parts Account invoices as per the
sample below:

Please ensure that all Dealership Accounting, Service and Parts colleagues responsible for
