EasyTec Update Instructions
This update for EasyTec is separated into three main steps, harness add, radio update and V-Bus update,
each step is documented separately. It is important to follow the order of the checklist below. This
update can be completed by end-users, if they choose to, or by dealers.

If the label on your EasyTec relay Module 1 or 2 is dated 05/02/23 or after this update is not needed.

Wire strippers, the need will depend on the unit and how it is wired, see details in procedure.

Thank you for the opportunity to support you and your products. You are receiving this letter today as
notification of necessary field updates for the Easytec product you recently purchased and installed
in your units.

Issue:

Low voltage allowing slide motor operation without mechanical safety mechanism
produces sustainable high current path damaging motor control relays.

Solution:

Update the ETLC product to monitor available coach voltage and discontinue operation
if the voltage falls below safe conditions.

Issue:

Intermittent holding tank accuracy.

Solution:

Update the ETSP and ETLC boards to change sampling rate. Add jumper harness to
tank section of ETLC.

Attached you will find procedures for updating ETSP and ETLC products for both issues mentioned.
The updates are straightforward and should not be time-consuming to complete. The estimate is that
0.3 hours of labor is enough time to carry out all updates. This work could be completed by an end
user or by a dealer technician.
Materials to carry out the update include a personal IOS or android device with current operating
systems along with an updater provided by ATC and lastly a small jumper harness also provided by
ATC.

Step 1 - Get the apps
Be sure to read the instructions before starting.

You will need to download two apps to your
phone or tablet. nRF Connect “nRF Connect for
Mobile” and EasyTec “easytec RV Control”

Step 2 - Get the file
You will be emailed a .zip file, this is the file you
will need to transfer to the MSP radio to
complete the update. It must be saved to your
device. Using gmail as an example, tap the
down arrow on the attachment to save the .zip
file to your device, this should save it to the
“downloads” folder.

Be sure to check your spam folder if the email
does not appear in your inbox

Step 3 - Open and configure the Bluetooth update app
If you have not connected your device to the
EasyTec app to control your coach do that
before moving on. Please see the instructions
for connecting to the EasyTec app for step-bystep instructions for connecting to the app. Once
your device is connected to the EasyTec app
launch the nRF Connect App.
When you first run the app there will be a series
of info pages as well as permissions, click
through the instructions and accept all
permissions.

Step 4 - Update the Radio
On the scanner screen scroll down until you find
a device named “AT-....” the numbers and letter
to the right of the dash are unique to the
individual radio so it will not look the same as
shown to the left. Tap the “Connect” button to
connect to the radio.
If nothing appears tap the scan button to turn on
the scanner.

Step 4 find the MSP radio
You can make the job of finding the correct
devise easier by taping on the “BONDED” tab,
the only device that should be listed is the
MSP. Once you have found the MSP to
update tap the “CONNECT” button on the
right.

Step 4 select the FW to transfer to the radio
Once connected to the radio the screen will look
like the one to the left, you need to select the file
to transfer via “DFU”. Tap the “DFU” button next
to the “Disconnect” at the top of the screen.
If you do not see the DFU icon, you may have
three vertical dots, click on those to see more
options which should include DFU.

Step 4 select the file type
Select “Distribution packet (ZIP) on the pop up
then tap “OK”

The .zip file should appear under “Recent files”,
if so tap ETSP_v6o.zip, and proceeed to page
12.
If it does not appear under recent files you will
have to navigate to “Downloads”.

To get to the “downloads” fold tap on the “My
Files” icon

Tap on the .zip file ETSP_v6o.zip then the
“Done” button will appear at the bottom of the
screen, tap the “Done” icon.

The update will begin automatically.

Step 4 DFU
Once the DFU has established a connection a
second tab will open named “EASYTEC-DFU”,
if you want to see the progress of the update
tap back on the tab “AT-….”.

on the “AT-….” tab.

Step 5 - DONE!
When this screen appears, the radio has been
successfully updated and you are done! You
can delete the nRF Connect app. The success
message will momentarily appear at the bottom
of the screen.

Choose “On My iPhone” option and then pick
nRF Connect. The file is now saved to your
device and we can move on.

Step 3 - Open and configure the Bluetooth update app

Step 3 scan for bluetooth devices
Once the app opens you will see a screen like
this. First a setting needs to be changed. Tap on
“settings” in the lower right hand corner.

The setting that needs to be changed is located
under “DFU” tap that button to access the
settings.

This is for older versions of the app, proceed to
page 10 if your app does not have this setting
located here. Page 16 explains the different
location for this setting.

Scroll down until you see the setting “Enable
Alternative Advertising Mode” and make sure
the switch to the right is “off” as shown in the
image to the left. Once this is done we are ready
to update the radio. Tap the “Scanner” icon in
the lower left hand corner to return to the
scanner. Once the setting has been changed
tap on “SCANNER” to return to the scanner
screen.

Step 4 - Update the Radio
On the scanner screen scroll down until you find
a device named “AT-....” the numbers and letter
to the right of the dash are unique to the
individual radio so it will not look the same as
shown to the left. Tap the “Connect” button to
connect to the radio.

You can make the job of finding the correct
devise by using the filter. Tap the arrow to the
right of the text “no filter” at the top of the
screen, select “Name” and add AT, tap “done”
then the blue arrow to see the filtered devices.

If no devices are in the list and you see this
screen, tap the white “play” button in the upper
right hand corner to start the scanner

Step 4 connect to the MSP radio
Once connected to the radio the screen will look
like the one to the left, you need to select the file
to transfer via “DFU”. Tap the “DFU” button
between “Log” and “Disconnect” at the top of the
screen.

If the .zip file was saved to the nRF app then it
will appear as shown to the left, select
ETSP_v6o.zip by taping the file.

page but you need to scroll down to find it.
You must change the setting before tapping
the start button.

Scrolling down will show these options. Make
sure “Enable Alternative Advertising Mode” is
off, as shown to the left.

Step 4 start the Device Firmware Update
The app will return to the screen shown on the
left. Tap the “Start” button and the process will
begin. As the firmware is transferred to the radio
the screen will fill with text information.

Step 5 - DONE!
When this screen appears the radio has been
successfully updated and you are done! You
can delete the nRF Connect app.

Wire Harness Step 1 remove the white ground wire
Using a small flathead screwdriver press the
small square button behind the white wire on the
gray block and remove the wire.

Wire Harness Step 2 insert the white wire from the harness
Use the same small screwdriver to press the
same button again and insert the white that is
beside the black wire on the harness. Once the
wire is inserted release the button and then give
a little pull on the wire to make sure it is securely
seated.

Wire Harness Step 3 insert the black wire from the harness
Move to position 9 on the gray terminal block, it
will be between the black and green wires and it
will have no wire inserted. Repeat the same
procedure to insert the black wire as used to
insert the white wire.

Wire Harness Step 4 connect the harness to ground
Crimp connect, or use the supplied Wago
connector, the remaining white wire on the
harness together with the white wire removed
from the grey block.
Some RVs with EasyTec already use Wago
connectors and it it might be possible to connect
to one of those. Be sure to strip wires to the
correct length for your preferred connection
method.

V-Bus Update Step 1
If there is a connector plugged into module 2
unplug the 3 position connector on module two.
If there is no connector on module 2, move to
step 2.

V-Bus Update Step 2
Plug the “updater” into the spot on module two
you unplugged the 3 position connector from,
plug the other end of the “Y” harness into the
wire that was unplugged from the module, if
there was a wire plugged into module 2.

V-Bus Update Step 3
Wait approximately 7 to 10 seconds and
observe the green “network traffic” LED flashed.

DO NOT MOVE TO THE NEXT STEP IF YOU
DO NOT OBSERVE THE GREEN LED FLASH

V-Bus Update Step 4
Press the button on the updater to start the
update.

V-Bus Update Step 5
The small green and red LEDs will flash
randomly, the large LED will turn red.

V-Bus Update Step 6
When the update is complete the large LED will
turn green. The update should take about 60
seconds, if the LED turns green in less than 5
seconds an error has occurred. Power cycle the
EasyTec system and try again. If the LED
changes to green in less than 5 seconds, please
contact ATC support.
