DESCRIPTION
Van Hool has introduced in production a lower value resistor in the defroster fan speed control
circuit to improve windshield demisting. Customers who want to install this resistor can follow the
step-by-step instructions mentioned in this service bulletin.

PREPARATIONS:






Park the vehicle on a level floor.
Apply the parking brake.
Switch off the engine
Switch off all systems and turn off the battery master switch on the dashboard.
Put a "DO NOT START" warning message on the instrument panel before starting the checks or
repairs.
 Read the entire procedure before starting to work.

PROCEDURE:

Insulate the two wire leads of the 15K Ohm/0.5W resistor from the kit with a piece of
heat shrink tubing from the kit so that only approx. 1 cm (0.4 inch) remains free for
connection.
 In junction box EKV for CX35/CX45/CX45E vehicles: replace the current
resistor R215.3 by the 15K Ohm/0.5W resistor from the kit.
 In junction box EK1 for TDX25E vehicles: replace the current resistor R215.3
by the 15K Ohm/0.5W resistor from the kit.
