TPMS SIGNAL FAULT REPAIR PROCEDURES

The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), on some Ford E-450 chassis may experience
intermittent loss of signal at one of the wheels and display a fault on the information center
of the dashboard.
This fault should clear itself through normal driving but because of potential interference
from the rear-view camera system it is possible for the problem to re-occur.
Specifically on Ford E-450 chassis with seral numbers starting from F057350 and ending at
seral number F060420, when signal loss is due to interference of the TPMS, please refer to
the following repair instructions.

1.

REPAIR PROCEDURES
There are two different repair procedures.
Procedure 1 starts on page 4 and will cover re-routing wires if a rear-view monitor is already
mounted to the windshield. Figure 1.
Procedure 2 starts on page 7 and will cover installing a new rear-view monitor and routing wires If
there is no rear-view camera monitor mounted on the windshield. Figure 3
The rear-view monitor is Rear View Safety, Forest River Part # F100290271, RVS Part Number
619NQ. Figure 1 and 2.

DISASSEMBLY
1.

The wires that will need to be re-routed are located behind the driver's side left kick panel. Figure 3.

Each of the camera wires run from the dashboard down behind the kick panel, under the black plastic step well and
are distributed to each camera.

3.

Remove the weather stripping from the door and set it aside, (note the position of the stripping).

4.

Next remove the lower outer skin from under the dashboard by pulling it straight out and off. These covers are
installed using pressure clips. (Use Caution pulling on these clips as they can break). Figure 4.

5.

Remove the black inner cover under the dashboard by removing 2 screws and pulling the bottom out. Figure 5.

6.

Remove the black step well cover exposing the camera cables. Figure 6.

LOCATING WIRING PROCEDURE 1
Note: Remove the keys from the ignition and verify there is no 12-volt power at the fused red wire. Figure 7.
7. Label and disconnect camera cables and wiring. Figure 7 and 8.
8. Remove the fuse from the fuse holder and disconnect the 12-volt red power wire from the white bell connector, making
sure to cap off open power wires. Figure 9.
9. Disconnect the black ground wire. Figure 10.
10. Disconnect the blue channel 2 camera wire from the white bell connector, remember to label all wires. Figure 11.
11. Remove the camera harness from under the dash by pulling carefully through the opening at the side. Figure 12.

ROUTING THE WIRES AND CABLES
12. Each of the wires will be routed over the top of the driver’s door behind the headliner and pillar.
13. There is a factory wiring harness behind the rear pillar that can be used to help secure the re-routed wires. Figure 13.

Label and disconnect camera cables and wiring.
Remove fuse from holder before cutting red power wire, making sure to cap off open wires. Figure 7.
Disconnect the black ground wire. Figure 8.
Disconnect the Blue, Yellow, and White wires coming from the multiplex/switcher box at the bell connectors. The yellow and
white wires will not be used. The blue wire is the reverse trigger for the rear camera. Figure 9.
Remove the camera cables from the multiplex/switcher box. Figure 10, and 11.
Disconnect the yellow RCA cable from the multiplex/switcher box cut off the end and secure the wire under the dash as none of
these components will be used. Figure 12.

INSTALLING THE NEW RVS-619NQ MONITOR AND
ROUTING THE WIRES AND CABLES
20. Remove the set screw, carefully remove the rear-view mirror and install back-up monitor in its place. Figure 13.
21. Plug in the new harness, to the monitor, there is only one way to plug them together.
22. Carefully pull down the edge of the headliner and tuck the cable behind it. Figure 14
23. Run the cable along the top of the windshield up over the corner post (A-pillar), over the driver’s door, and down the rear
of the door. Figure 15, and 16.

CONNECTING
THE
CABLES
AND
WIRES
ALL CONNECTIONS WILL BE THE SAME FOR BOTH PROCEDURES 1 AND 2.
24. Locate the harness under the step well containing the orange, black and white wires. Figure 11.

25. Two wires will have to be extended, the orange wire and the black ground wire at the cable harness that was re-routed.
26. Splice the orange wire extension into the orange power wire located in the 3-wire harness and connect the other end to
the red fused power supply for the camera harness. Figure 12 and 13.
27. Re-connect the camera cables in the correct orientation. Channel 2, (blue cable), will be the rear camera. Figure 14.

28. Connect one end the black extension wire to the negative wire at the camera harness, the other end to an eyelet
connector and secure it to the chassis under the step well cover.
29. The black wire located in the 3-wire harness with the orange wire will be brought back up and connected to the blue
channel 2 wire. This is the reverse trigger wire. Figure 15.

FINISHING UP
30. Test rear view camera system for proper operation before replacing any covers.
31. Organize all the remaining wiring in the step well to sit in the space and secure carefully with zip ties. Figure 16
32. Re-secure the wiring that was previously removed at the dashboard being careful to keep them out of the out of the
way of the plastic covers to be installed.
33. Re-install the black inner cover and gray plastic cover. Figures 17 and 18.
34. Carefully install the door weather stripping and the black step well cover.
