2012-2015 Passat TDI- Fuel Tank Hard to Fill in Temperatures
Below Freezing

Condensation build up in the fuel filler neck vent line causes blockage or restriction not allowing fuel
vapors to vent.
Inspect fuel tank vent tube for debris, water and/or ice. Backlighting the tube with a flashlight or using a
bore scope will aid in diagnosis.

If the vent path is blocked or restricted, install a Shepard’s crook (U-shaped) vent to stop moisture from
entering the vent line.

Service Information
The following parts are required:
1-Breather Tube Part Number 5N0 201 993N or S.

2-Rubber U shaped hose Part Number 8K0 906 272K.

3- 3 Tie Straps (obtained locally).

Service Information
Repair as follows:
Remove the right rear wheel, wheel well liner
and the rubber vent cap from the tank vent
pipe. Inspect the vent line near the bottom of
the filler neck for water/ice buildup. Use a
vacuum device to clean.

Cut the tube 5N0 201 993N or S at the
location illustrated and discard the unused
portion.

Install the vent cap and U shaped rubber hose
onto the previously cut tube from step 2.
Secure with Tie Straps as shown.

Service Information
Install the assembly onto the open end of the
vent pipe and secure with a Tie strap as shown.
Reinstall the wheel well liner and wheel to
complete.
