Customers may notice that when they place a phone call via Bluetooth, or OnStar
Blue Button, that the timer will start on the center display that the phone call has
been initiated but neither party will be able to hear one another. Customers may
also notice Google Assistant will not recognize commands.
A11 Radio USB software

Correction:
Dealers are asked to rst check if radio audio (AM, FM, XM, Spotify, etc) and alert audio (door chimes, seatbelt
chimes) work properly. Proceed with the following steps to verify concern.
Checking Bluetooth Audio
1. Two phones are required for testing.
2. Turn vehicle to propulsion mode (ON) but leave parked.
3. Navigate to settings > connections > phones > manage/add phone (screen)
a. OR, from main screen, press phone icon > manage/add phone
4. Once phone is added to Bluetooth (apple carplay / android auto connection not required), play
music/sound from device to ensure proper connection.
5. Once con rmed audio passes through to vehicle, have a separate phone call the phone connected to
vehicle, or vice versa.
6. Con rm both parties can hear each other over the phone.
7. If in vehicle incoming/outgoing audio not working, hearing silence but phone timer still ticking on display,
continue with performing the double USB update below.
8. If in vehicle incoming/outgoing audio working, hearing voice on another phone and timer still ticking,
vehicle is OK and should have minimal ignition cycles prior to exiting from demo mode / turning into “sold”
condition where OnStar terms and conditions are accepted by purchasing customer.
Below are the required steps for performing the Double USB Update
1. Connect the MDI2 to the vehicle and hardwired connection to the PC being used for SPS2.
2. Selecting A11 radio and USB le transfer, it will download the les to the USB drive. Type C USB Drive
(16GB or 32GB formatted to FAT32) is recommended. *Note – Please use only the Type C USB

drive as noted above. DO NOT use a USB to Type C USB adapter for programming as this may cause errors.
3. Place the vehicle into Service Mode. Insert the USB drive to the vehicle's USB receptacle. Once it is inserted,
the radio display will show the Update and progress bar.
4. Once it completes, the radio display will show a message mentioning it needs to reboot. Follow the on
screen instructions and the radio will return to operation. *Note - Please do not go back to the computer
and download the le again from SPS2. This is not needed for the 2nd USB update to take place.
5. Next, remove and reinsert the USB drive again to the vehicles USB receptacle. It will start this process again
for updating the 2nd half. It will also show update successful once done and will reboot again.
6. *Note - If the radio display shows "Calibrate Device" after the 2nd USB update completed, the A11 radio
needs to be reprogrammed with SPS2 for calibrations. If it does not show this, all is well and vehicle can be
retested for operation and released.
7. Once completed, please go to Radio Settings>System>About>Buildnumber. The Buildnumber "aegean-user
11 W34E-168.5.1-M164-RQBR2-185.2 34 release-keys" will be the current Buildnumber once the USB
update was completed.

*If the radio fails the USB update and shows the multiple languages screen on the radio display, disconnect the
USB drive from the vehicle. Reinsert the USB drive and shut the vehicle o . While the vehicle is o and the USB
drive is still connected, the radio will start recovering within 15-20 minutes.
Please follow normal SI diagnostics for audio concerns other than No Bluetooth Audio Via Phone Call, OnStar Blue
Button Press and Google Assistant not responding at this time.
*It is anticipated that replacement radios will come with updated Software soon. If Software programming is
required on a replacement radio, please follow the Double USB Update procedure above.
