SUBJECT: Model 205 (C Class), Model Year 2016
Install Rivet to Left Front Wheel Arch

This Service Campaign has been initiated because Daimler AG (DAG), the manufacturer of Mercedes-
Benz vehicles, has determined that on the affected vehicles, an additional blind rivet is needed near the
front left suspension strut. An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will add the additional blind rivet.

Prior to performing this Service Campaign:

« Please check VMI to determine if the vehicle is involved in the Campaign and if it has been previously
repaired.

«Please review the entire Service Campaign bulletin and follow the repair procedure exactly as
described.

Approximately 86 vehicles are affected.

Procedure

1. Remove left front wheel, refer to WIS: AR.40.10-P-1101A.
2. Remove rear section of left fender liner (A, Figure 1) in front fender, refer to WIS: AR88.10-P-1300LW.

3. Make a punch mark in mounting console at left rear as shown (Figure 2):

Note:
Lower edge of mounting console is concealed by sealing bead. Sealing bead must not be
removed.
* Dimension B: From bottom to top approx. 30 mm
¢ Dimension C: From mounting console edge at right inwards approx. 15 mm.

4. Drill rivet hole (A, Figure 3) at punch mark with 6.7 mm drill bit.
¢ Deburr rivet hole and touch up edges of hole with touch-up paint.
« Remove metal shavings.

5 Install rivet into hole (A, Figure 3) with 6.5X12.5 mm rivet.
6. Seal rivet point with body sealant and touch-up with touch-up paint pen (Figure 4).

¢ Marson hydraulic rivet tool or equivalent.
e Use a standard size caulking gun to apply the seam sealer p/n A 004 989 16 97 which is
a 310ml caulking tube with the standard size plastic applicator tip.

” One cartridge of body sealant is sufficient for 15 vehicles; submit as Local Purchase -BSE00245. Qty. 1, handling is
included.

® Touch-up paint pen is to be determined according to equipment code via EPC and is also sufficient for several
vehicles. Use the pen part number in intervals of tenths based on usage.
