With the B46, B48, B58 and the Plug-in Hybrid (“PHEV”) versions of the above listed models

SITUATION
There is a howling or whistling noise from under the vehicle at 30 -37 mph (50 -60 km/h) when driving after
a cold start, when the outside temperature is 32° F (0° C) or lower.
The noise goes away as the vehicle/driveline reaches operating temperature.

CAUSE
Unfavorable tolerances for the rear driveshaft center bearing.

CORRECTION
Replace the center bearing.

PROCEDURE
Follow Repair Instruction 26 12 001 “Replacing the complete propeller shaft center bearing”.
NOTE: The “TOP” designation on the center
bearing points upwards towards the
transmission tunnel.

Obtain and confirm the part numbers for your specific vehicle by entering the chassis number in either ETK
or AIR which considers specific equipment and/or options.

according to the respective vehicle type.
