WNL4 - Replacing Front Bumper (Workshop Campaign)

This bulletin replaces bulletin Group 6 154/22 WNL4, dated January 13, 2023.

Important:

CRITICAL WARNING -This campaign includes steps where control unit(s) in the vehicle will be
programmed with the PIWIS Tester. The vehicle voltage must be maintained between 13.5 volts and 14.5
volts during this programming. Failure to maintain this voltage could result in damaged control unit(s).
Damage caused by inadequate voltage during programming is not a warrantable defect. The technician
must verify the actual vehicle voltage in the PIWIS Tester before starting the campaign and also document
the actual voltage on the repair order.

Concerns:

Front bumper

Cause:

There is a possibility on the affected vehicles that a welding joint on the bumper does not meet
the required specifications.

Action required: For this reason, the front bumper on the affected vehicles must be replaced with a bumper on which the
welding joints meet the required specifications.

Convert driver assistance systems holder to suit the new front bumper.
2.1

Loosen screws  Installing driver assistance systems holder -5- and remove the driver
assistance systems holder.

2.2

Position driver assistance systems holder on the new front bumper.

2.3

Screw in and tighten screws  Installing driver assistance systems holder -5-. Tightening
torque 8 Nm (5.9 ftlb.)
