Dear Dealers,
As a result of the continuous quality controls on the product in operation, together with your
reports on the model in question, we would like to inform you that a spring has been
introduced on the new motorcycles in production, inside the initial part of the fuel tank
breather pipe (not the "overflow" pipe). The purpose of this spring is to prevent possible air
blockages after workshop operations involving the removal and refitting of the fuel tank.
In particular, tank removal is sometimes carried out by the customers themselves to take out
the engine air filter and this operation, if not carried out with all the care indicated in the
workshop manual and relative video, it can lead to obstructing flow of the breather pipe with
consequent possible damage to the fuel tank, which can lead to deformations under vacuum.
If the Client informs you that he/she has removed the fuel tank, always check that the fuel
tank breather pipe is clear.

79917291A inside the breather pipe.

To install this spring inside the pipe and secure it with
a clamp on the outside of the pipe, on vehicles
produced prior to the update, the fuel tank must be
removed from the motorcycle.
NOTE
As this is not an urgent update, it must only
be carried out when workshop operations
involving the removal/refitting of the fuel
tank are carried out (e.g. replacement of the
air filter during a scheduled maintenance
operation), therefore, dealers will be entitled
to a partial labor unit of

All motorcycles in your inventory (to be registered or already registered) and to be delivered to
final Clients, and the ones already delivered to final Clients must be updated during workshop
operations involving the removal/refitting of the fuel tank (e.g. replacement of air filter
during a scheduled maintenance operation). Note: this is NOT a safety recall.

The part no. 79917291 required to carry out the update under this Workshop Campaign must
be ordered for each affected frame number. The self-locking tie is an easy to find consumable
and should be sourced locally.
Warranty Reimbursement Rules
Reimbursement for work associated with this Workshop Campaign will be made through the
regular warranty claim procedure using the “VIN History” section of the DCS.

Service Solution
WARNING
To ensure the correct execution of the operation within the provided labor time to
carry out the updates, it is necessary to follow the sequence indicated in the
following instructions.
We recommend taking your time to fully understand the procedure before
attempting its implementation on the motorcycle (you may print the document in
color for a better understanding).
We also remind you that the work environment where you carry out the procedure
and the tools and equipment used (wrenches and gloves) must be clean.
1. Position the motorcycle on the rear paddock stand.
2. Remove fuel tank (See Section 08 - Supply/exhaust system - Fuel tank of the Workshop
Manual).
3. Take the spring (A) part no. 79917291A, position it 2.2 cm from the beginning of the pipe
and mark the pipe (1) with a felt-tip pen at a height equal to half the length of the spring.

4. Insert the spring inside the breather pipe (1), using a ball-head screwdriver.
NOTE
Apply adhesive tape to a screwdriver at a distance of 2.20 cm from the tip for
reference when inserting the spring.

5. Apply a small self-locking tie (2) to the marking previously made to secure the spring
inside the pipe (1).

WARNING
Make sure that the small self-locking tie is properly tightened by applying pressure
to the spring with a ball-head screwdriver.

8. Perform a soft cleaning of the motorcycle before delivering it to the Client.
