Condition

Some customers may comment on a no crank condition when attempting to start the
engine.
Some customers may also comment on one or more of the following conditions:
• The PRNDL will not illuminate on the DIC or shifter.
• The vehicle will have electrical power and the driver will be unable to power the
electrical system Off by pressing the ignition switch. This may result in a dead battery.
Some technicians may find the vehicle will have electrical power.
Some technicians may also find during diagnostics, DTC U0101 will be stored in the
history in the ECM.

Cause

This condition may be caused by an anomaly that has caused a loss of communication to
the Transmission Control Module (TCM).

Correction

Remove the TCM fuse for 1 minute or more to allow the TCM to reset. Utilize Service
Information to determine the location of your TCM fuse. Reinstalling the TCM fuse will
allow the TCM to establish communication and the engine to start.
This condition is random and may or may not reoccur. New TCM software is being
developed for a service repair. Replacing the TCM will not correct the issue.
This document will be updated once additional repair information is available.
