replacement of control unit J1158 only
NOTICE
The requirement to replace the steering wheel has also been removed from the Measure section unless the issue is still evident after J1158
has been replaced

Measure

VERY IMPORTANT: Before any work is carried out on the vehicle. Refer to "Precautions - Passive restraint systems and
components". Failure to comply with the instructions could lead to inadvertent deployment of the air bag module
1) Referring to Rep.Gr 69 - Remove the driver's air bag
2) Referring to Figure 1 - Fit a new Control Unit for Steering Wheel Contact Detection control unit (J1158) to the new steering wheel

3) Referring to Rep.Gr 69 - Refit the driver's air bag
4) Using ODIS - Erase all applicable DTC’s

5) Carry out a short road test (Not exceeding15 minutes)

NOTICE
In the event the issue is now resolved as per the Customer/Workshop findings section no further action is required
However
In the event the issue is not resolved the operative should raise a DISS query requesting permission to replace the steering
wheel
