DESCRIPTION:

This ATC-Campaign is being issued to address Speed Indicator Ring (tone wheel) capscrew failures. This document
authorizes Cummins Certified Repair Locations to proactively replace the Speed Indicator Ring capscrews.

NOTE: This ATC does not cover work on failed units. This ATC provides coverage for work associated with the
proactive replacement of the Speed Indicator Ring capscrews ONLY. Any work performed that is outside the scope of
this ATC MUST be filed to the appropriate coverage that most benefits the customer.

NOTE: This field action provides retroactive coverage for repairs made in anticipation of and prior to the release of this
publication.
ACTION:
In order to qualify for repair under this field action, an engine:
1 will be covered Regardless of coverage status, and
2 must show as OPEN on QuickServe® Online for this field action.
NOTE: The ESN list is attached for reference.
After verifying that the engine meets the above requirements, perform the following actions:

1 Remove the oil pan to gain access to the Speed Indicator Ring. Please refer to procedure 007-025 Lubricating
Oil Pan in the L9 CM2450 L126B Service Manual (5613077).

2 Remove the Speed Indicator Ring capscrews and discard. Install and tighten new capscrews to 10 nm (88 in-
Ib) of torque.

MATERIAL DISPOSITION:
Materials removed as a result of this field action must be scrapped.
