SITUATION
“Driver Assistance Reduced” check control message (CCM) appears.
All or some of the following system functions maybe inoperative:
Front fog lights
Park distance control
Short range radar (SRR)
The following fault may also be stored: 481CC6.

CAUSE
SRR wiring harness is pinched (shorted) between the bumper and the bumper support. This requires
removal of the bumper and close inspection of the harness. The wire harness may require unwrapping to
find the pinched wires.

CORRECTION
Replace damaged wiring, or insulate the wiring with corrugated piping.

PROCEDURE
1. Perform all applicable test plans if no defect is found follow the below steps.

2. Is the following fault code stored; and/or are these systems below inoperative?

481CC6
o Front fog lights
o Park Distance Control
o Short Range Radar functions

Yes: Proceed to step 3
No: Further diagnosis with ISTA is needed

3. Follow VIN-based repair instructions titled “Removing and installing front bumper panel”.

4. Carefully inspect the front bumper wiring harness. Refer to illustration above with locations circled. You may
need to unwrap the harness for inspection.

Is damage found in the above locations?
Yes: Proceed to step 5.
No: Proceed to step 6.
5. Replace the front bumper wiring harness with an optimized cable set. Proceed to step 8.
6. Is the harness shielded by corrugated tubing
circled in the photo?

Yes: Further diagnosis with ISTA is
needed.
No: Wrap wiring in abrasion resistant tape.

7. Install wiring harness into 70 mm length of

corrugated tubing. The location is approx. 30 mm
from the support clip show in the example photo.
Install the piping in the area indicated by the red
line. Using abrasion resistant tape to secure both
ends of the tubing to the harness and install
wiring back into proper position.

8. Assemble vehicle and test system functionality.
