This Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) has also been released as a Rapid Service Update
(RSU) 22-226, date of issue November 18, 2022. All applicable Sold and Un-Sold RSU VINs
have been loaded. To verify this RSU service action is applicable to the vehicle, use VIP
or perform a VIN search in DealerCONNECT/Service Library. All repairs are reimbursable
within the provisions of warranty. This RSU will expire 18 months after the date of issue.
SUBJECT:
Drivetrain Control Module (DTCM) Connector Issue
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves disconnecting and reconnecting the connectors for the DTCM.

NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles within the following markets/countries: North
America.
NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or after August 17, 2022 (MDH 0817XX) and
on or before August 18, 2022 (MDH 0818XX) equipped with Four Wheel Drive System
(Sales Code 514).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Customers may experience a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination. Upon further
investigation, a technician may find one or more of the following Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)
have been set:

U0102-00 - Lost Communication With Transfer Case Control Module / AWD.
U1440 - Implausible Transfer Case Ratio High Received.
C1406-15 - Transfer Case Brake Control-Circuit Short To Battery Or Open.
C1406-92 - Transfer Case Brake Control-Performance Or Incorrect Operation.
C1406-11 - Transfer Case Brake Control-Circuit Short To Ground.
C1463-12 - Front Axle Disconnect Control-Circuit Short To Battery.
C1463-13 - Front Axle Disconnect Control-Circuit Open.
C1463-11 - Front Axle Disconnect Control-Circuit Short To Ground.

In addition the customer may describe the following:
• A “Service 4WD” message/fault is displayed in the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC).
DIAGNOSIS:
Using a Scan Tool (wiTECH) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures available in
DealerCONNECT/Service Library, verify all related systems are functioning as designed. If DTCs or
symptom conditions, other than the ones listed above are present, record the issues on the repair
order and repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin.

If a customer’s VIN is listed in VIP or your RSU VIN list, perform the repair. If any vehicle not on the
VIN list exhibits the symptom/condition or DTC, perform the repair.
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Access the DTCM. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT>
Service Library under: Service Info> 08 - Electrical / 8E - Electronic Control Modules / Module,
Drivetrain Control (DTCM) / Removal and Installation. Do not remove the DTCM.
2. Disconnect and reconnect the electrical connectors, push-pull-push on each connector to
ensure it is properly seated (Fig. 1) .

3. Reassemble the components that were removed to access the DTCM. Refer to the detailed
service procedures available in DealerCONNECT> Service Library under: Service Info> 08 Electrical / 8E - Electronic Control Modules / Module, Drivetrain Control (DTCM) / Removal and
Installation.
4. Clear all DTCs that may have been set in any module. The wiTECH application will
automatically present all DTCs and allow them to be cleared.
