HAVE BEEN LOADED. TO VERIFY THAT THIS RRT SERVICE ACTION IS
APPLICABLE TO THE VEHICLE, USE VIP OR PERFORM A VIN SEARCH IN
TECHCONNECT. ALL REPAIRS ARE REIMBURSABLE WITHIN THE PROVISIONS OF
WARRANTY.
HELP USING THE wiTECH DIAGNOSTIC APPLICATION FOR FLASHING AN ECU IS
AVAILABLE BY SELECTING “HELP” THEN “HELP CONTENTS” AT THE TOP OF
THE wiTECH DIAGNOSTIC APPLICATION WINDOW.
THE wiTECH SOFTWARE LEVEL MUST BE AT RELEASE 15.02 OR HIGHER TO
PERFORM THIS PROCEDURE.
SUBJECT:
Flash: Multiple ECU Software Enhancements
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves upgrading the software in the Engine Control Module (ECM), the
Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC), the Body Control Module (BCM), the Antilock Brake
System (ABS), the Electric Steering Lock Module (ESL) and the HVAC Module.

NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or before October 8, 2014 (MDH
1008XX) equipped with the European Equipment Group (Sales Codes ABB).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may experience one or all of the following:
- Fuel consumption indication on the trip computer could be 2% higher than the real
value.
- The clock of the Radio and displayed by the EVIC loses time.
- Start and Stop is sometime erroneously not available.
- Excessive battery consumption while the vehicle is set in Logistic Mode.
- DTC P0238 “Turbo boost Pressure Sensor Circuit High”. MIL light illuminates
sometime during WOT acceleration. (2.0L Diesel engine only)
- Manual Transmission Gear upshift/downshift indicator shown in the EVIC

sometime does not work properly. (1.6L Diesel engine only)
DIAGNOSIS:
Using a Scan Tool (wiTECH) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures available in
TechCONNECT, verify no DTC's are set. If DTCs are present record them on the repair
order and repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin.
If a customer’s VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the repair. For all other
customers that describes the symptom/condition, perform the Repair Procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
NOTE: Install a battery charger to ensure battery voltage does not drop below 13.2
volts. Do not allow the charger voltage to climb above 13.5 volts during the
flash process.
CAUTION: Please verify the following on your Personal Computer (PC) before
attempting to update these ECUs. PC must be running on AC/DC power
supply only. PC hard drive must NOT be set to turn off in a period of
time. PC must NOT be scheduled to go into sleep or standby mode. PC
screen saver must be turned off. PC monitor must NOT be set to turn off
in a period of time.
NOTE: It is highly recommended that a Wired Ethernet or USB connection be used
between the device (micro POD) and the WiTech PC / laptop.
NOTE: If this flash process is interrupted/aborted, the flash should be restarted.

Reprogram the Electric Steering Lock Module (ESL) with the latest software.
Reprogram the Antilock Brake System (ABS) with the latest software.
Reprogram the Body Control Module (BCM) with the latest software.
Is the vehicle equipped with the Dual Zone Climate System (Sales Code HAF )?
a. No >>> Proceed to Step #5.
b. Yes >>> Reprogram the HVAC Module with the latest software.
Is the vehicle equipped with the 3.5” Display Cluster (Sales Code JAY )?
a. No >>> Proceed to Step #6.
b. Yes >>> Reprogram the IPC Module with the latest software.
Is the vehicle equipped with the 2.0L Diesel Engine (Sales Code EBT) or the 1.6L
Diesel Engine (Sales Code EJK )?
a. No >>> Proceed to Step #7.
b. Yes >>> Reprogram the ECM Module with the latest software.
Using wiTECH, perform a BCM, Proxy Alignment. This routine is available under the
'Vehicle Preparations' tab found on the home page of wiTECH.
Turn off the ignition, disconnect the wiTECH, open and close the driver’s door and let
all modules go to sleep.
Reconnect the wiTECH and clear any DTCs that may have been set in other modules
due to reprogramming.
