Some customers may comment that early brake wear occurs when operating in
environments that are muddy, dusty or corrosive.
– Typically these are in mining or oil field use. Cases in where original linings wear out
under 10,000 miles (16,000 km).
Important: Brake noise or roughness may be experienced with these linings.
There is a rotor and pad set that has a better life expectancy in these environments. The
pad life is influenced by preventative maintenance performed by the customer.

Information

⇒ Ensure standard level of cleanliness is maintained on the trucks. Mud
packing/debris on around the wheel and brake components needs to be
routinely cleaned off to ensure proper brake function with any friction
combination.
⇒ Use of the Semi-met lining must be paired with Non-FN rotor. So the pads
and rotors must be replaced as a set. They should also be replaced at all 4
corners. So do not replace only the fronts or rears to maintain brake
performance.
Note: The brake pad life feature should be disabled using a setting in the DIC.
Instructions are in the owner’s manual under "Brake Pad Life System.
Note: This is a customer pay repair.
