This Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) has also been released as a Rapid Service Update
(RSU) 22-087, date of issue April 29, 2022. All applicable Un-Sold RSU VINs have been
loaded. To verify this RSU service action is applicable to the Un-Sold vehicle, use VIP or
perform a VIN search in DealerCONNECT/Service Library. This RSU will expire 18
months after the date of issue.
SUBJECT:
Front Inside Door Release Handles Slow to Retract
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves inspection and replacing the inside front door release handle cable if needed.

NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles within the following markets/countries: North
America.
NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or after June 01, 2021 (MDH 0601XX) and
built on or before January 05, 2022 (MDH 0105XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may describe the following:
• Left and/or right front inside door release handle returns slowly after release.
If a customer’s VIN is listed in VIP or your RSU VIN list, perform the repair. This RRT only applies
to vehicles on the RRT VIN list.

Cable, inside handle to latch (Right or Left)

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Pull and release each of the inside front door release handles. Check if either one or both
handles were slow to move back to the rest position.
2. Did either one or both handles retract slowly?
• YES >>> Proceed to Step 3.
• NO >>> This bulletin has been completed. Use inspection LOP (23-41-18-90) to close this
active RSU.

NOTE: Only replace the cable(s) on the side where the handle was slow to retract.
3. Remove door carrier plate. Refer to the detailed procedures available in DealerCONNECT >
Service Library> under: 23 - Body / Doors - Front / PLATE, Carrier / Removal.
4. Unseat the inside cable grommet (Fig. 1) .

5. Disconnect the latch electrical connector and multifunction bracket lock tab (Fig. 2) .

6. Pull the multifunction bracket away from the carrier plate (doesn’t have to be completely
disconnected).(Fig. 3) .

7. Remove the latch cover and cable from the retainers (Fig. 4) .

8. Push in on the release tab to remove the cable from the latch. Lift up on the cable and release
it from the end fitting (Fig. 5) .

Install the new cable into the latch and install the latch cover (Fig. 5) .
Reroute the cable back on to the multifunction bracket retainer clips (Fig. 4) .
Install the multifunction bracket on to the door module (Fig. 2) .
Push the cable into the door module and seat the grommet (Fig. 3) .
Reconnect the door latch electrical connector.
Install the door carrier plate. Refer to the detailed procedures available in DealerCONNECT >
Service Library> under: 23 - Body / Doors - Front / Plate, Carrier / Installation.
