2022, which should be removed from your files. All revisions are highlighted with
**asterisks** and include converting to an Rapid Service Update (RSU) with additional build
date and model year.
**This Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) has also been released as a Rapid Service Update
(RSU) 22-085, date of issue April 28, 2022. All applicable Un-Sold RSU VINs have been
loaded. To verify this RSU service action is applicable to the Un-Sold vehicle, use VIP or
perform a VIN search in DealerCONNECT/Service Library. This RSU will expire 18
months after the date of issue.**
SUBJECT:
Water Pump Inlet Tube Fastener Torque
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves checking the torque on the water pump inlet tube fasteners to possibly
eliminate coolant leak at this location.

NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles within the following markets/countries: North
America, APAC, EMEA and LATAM.
NOTE:This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or before **March 10, 2022 (MDH 0310XX)**
equipped with one of the following engines:
• 2.0.L I4 DOHC DI Turbo PHEV Engine (Sales Code ECX).
• 2.0L I4 DOHC DI Turbo E-torque Engine (Sales Code EC3).
• 2.0L I4 DOHC DI Turbo Engine W/ESS (Sales Code EC1).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may describe either a coolant leak or the coolant level is low.
DIAGNOSIS:
If a customer’s VIN is listed in VIP or your RSU VIN list, perform the repair. If any vehicle not on the
VIN list exhibits the symptom/condition, perform the Diagnosis Procedure.
1. **Is the vehicle on the RSU VIN list?
• YES>>> Proceed to Step 1 of the Repair Procedure.
• NO>>> Proceed to Step 2.**
2. Pressure check the coolant system. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in
DealerCONNECT> Service Library under: Service Info>07 - Cooling / Diagnosis and Testing
>Leak Testing>Pressure Tester Method.

3. Was coolant found to be leaking from the water pump inlet tube at the engine (Fig. 1) ?
• YES>>> Proceed to Step 1 of the Repair Procedure.
• NO>>> Coolant was not leaking from this area. This bulletin does not apply. Normal
diagnosis should be performed.

Medium strength blue thread locking adhesive. If
Mopar part number is not readily available, use
only Loctite 242T or Loctite 243T.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Remove one inlet tube fastener (Fig. 1) .

Apply Mopar 04318031AC (or equivalent) to fastener thread.
Install the water pump inlet tube fastener and tighten to 11 N·m (97 in. lbs).
Remove the other water pump inlet tube fastener.
Apply Mopar 04318031AC (or equivalent) to fastener thread.
Install the water pump inlet tube fastener and tighten to 11 N·m (97 in. lbs).
Wait 10 minutes after last fastener is installed prior to pressure testing the coolant system or
running the engine to allow for prescribed blue thread locking adhesive cure time.

8. Pressure check the coolant system. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in
DealerCONNECT>Service Library under: Service Info>07 - Cooling / Diagnosis and Testing
>Leak Testing>Pressure Tester Method.
9. Is coolant still leaking from the water pump inlet tube at the engine (Fig. 1) ?
• YES>>> Further diagnosis should be performed.
• NO>>> This bulletin has been completed.
