• Customer may report that the gearbox warning message is on.
• DTC P0706 (driving mode sensor, implausible signal) is stored in the transmission control module (TCM), J217
(address 02).

Technical Background
There is a reaction between the TCM and the automatic transmission fluid (ATF) in vehicles within a specific VIN
range.

Production Solution
Not applicable.

Service
1. Drain the ATF according to the repair manual.
2. Replace the TCM according to the instructions in Elsa >> Repair Manual >> Transmission >> Continuously
Variable Transmission Internal Components >> 38 Gears, Hydraulic Controls >> Removal and Installation >>
Transmission Control Module J217.
3. Fill the transmission with ATF according to the repair manual.
