Reprogram radio software

MODELS INVOLVED:
IC Bus® CE Series buses

DEFECT DESCRIPTION:

Certain IC Bus® CE Series buses may have outdated radio software that could interfere

with the operation of the Public Address (PA) external speakers.

ELIGIBILITY:

This procedure applies ONLY to vehicles marked in the International® Service PortalS
with FSC 22119. Also complete any other open campaigns listed on the Service Portal

at this time.

TOOLS REQUIRED:

NOTE: To obtain USB Flash Drive with ADAYO Programming Software submit
tool case file and / or call Product Support Center at 1-800-336-4500.

WORK INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING! To prevent personal injury and / or death, or damage to property, park
vehicle on hard flat surface, turn the engine off, set the parking brake, and install
wheel chocks to prevent the vehicle from moving in both directions.

WARNING! To prevent personal injury and / or death, always wear safe eye
protection when performing vehicle maintenance.

WARNING! To prevent personal injury and / or death, or damage to property, keep
flames or sparks away from vehicle and do not smoke while servicing the
vehicle’s batteries. Batteries expel explosive gases.

1. Park vehicle on a level surface.

2. Shift transmission into Park or Neutral and set parking brake.
3. Turn ignition to Key OFF position.

4. Install wheel chocks.

5. Connect battery charger / maintainer to vehicle battery.

NOTE: DO NOT change and/ or alter file names saved on VOL / MENU flash drive.
The radio needs these file names to determine what software will be programmed
into the radio.

6. Turn ignition to Key ON, Engine OFF position.

NOTE: After plugging in the USB flash-drive, the radio will display: USB —
READING — USB ERROR. Do not be alarmed, USB ERROR is normally displayed
because there is no media file in the USB.

7. Turn radio ON using USB Flash Drive with ADAYO Programming Software; insert
USB flash drive into radio.

8. Simultaneously press RADIO button (Figure 1, Item 1) and 5 button (Figure 1, item
3) to open hidden menu.

9. Turn VOL / MENU knob (Figure 1, Item 2) and scroll through options in hidden menu
until UPDATE MCU is displayed

NOTE: After selecting UPDATE MCU, a LOAD FILE prompt will display in the
radio.

10. Press the VOL / MENU knob (Figure 1, Item 2) to select UPDATE MCU setting.

CAUTION! DO NOT turn off radio or remove USB flash drive while programming is |

NOTE: The radio will auto restart once the software update is completed. Once
software update is completed, a radio prompt will display MCU 100%.

11. Once the radio has auto restarted, simultaneously press RADIO button (Figure 1,
Item 1) and 5 button (Figure 1, Item 3).

a. If radio displays software version MCU-02042D or software version
MCU02042E, proceed to Step 12.

b. If versions MCU-02042D or MCU02042E are not displayed, open a case file.

12. Turn radio OFF and remove flash drive.
13. Disconnect battery charger / maintainer from vehicle battery.

14. Remove wheel chocks.

WARRANTY CLAIMS

Warranty claim expense is to be charged to Warranty. Claims are to be submitted in the
normal manner, making reference to Field Service Campaign 22119.

Section 7 of the Warranty Policy and Procedures Manual contains further information
related to the submission and processing of AFC / Recall claims.

As with all claim submissions, items acquired locally must be submitted in the “Other
Charges” tab. The cost of any bulk items (such as a bag of cable tie straps, roll of wire,
barrel of oil, or tube of silicone) should be prorated for the cost of the individual pieces /
amount used during each repair.

To make sure this important improvement is made in a timely manner, all claims for
22119 activity must be submitted by 26 October 2023 or within the normal warranty
period for the component repaired, if after 26 October 2023.
