This bulletin involves replacing the cowl seal gasket and sealing off the two vent holes in the hood.

equipped with a 2.0L 280HP I4 DI Turbo Engine (Sales Code EC2) and Q4 Badge
(Sales Code MGZ).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Customers may notice a smell in the passenger compartment while operating the vehicle in traffic
conditions (Stop and Start, 2nd and 3rd gear, parking maneuvers).
DIAGNOSIS:
If a customer’s VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the Inspection Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Open hood and locate the cowl seal gasket (Fig. 1) . Replace the gasket with the revised part
listed in Parts Required. Verify seal makes contact to hood.

2. Clean area around vent holes (Fig. 2) with isopropyl alcohol to allow insulating tape to stick to
surface.

3. Apply the insulating tape to cover vent holes.
