SPEED TRIPLE 1200 RS & RR LOW OIL PRESSURE WARNING
Triumph has seen small number of cases reporting Speed Triple 1200 RS & RR bikes showing an
intermittent display of the low oil pressure warning on the instruments.

This concern has been investigated. From data gathered so far most of these warnings are
shown in error, and the oil pressure on the bikes is acceptable.
The following changes have already been made to improve this condition:
The oil pump drive gear changed from 28 teeth to 24 teeth to increase the oil pressure.
The pressure on the original gearing is more than acceptable for lubrication, but the
pressure at idle is close to the tolerance limit for the oil pressure switch. The increased
pressure means that the switch is less likely to trigger the low-pressure warning in error.
The low oil pressure warning on these models is controlled by the Chassis Control Unit
(CCU) based on a strategy of taking inputs from the oil pressure switch and engine ECM.
This strategy was revised to better control the warning in certain riding conditions where
the pressure could momentarily drop. This update changes the behavior of the warning so
that it now latches on. If the pressure does briefly drop slightly and trigger the warning,
the warning will remain on the display until the ignition is cycled and does not switch off
when pressure rises as may be expected. This change was implemented from the release
of TDT 2021-15 in November 2021. All RR models will have this latest software from PDI.
The investigating is ongoing, and further revision to the CCU software is being worked on

Ø Bikes fitted with the original pump:
o Confirm the engine has been filled with the correct grade oil and that the oil level is
correct.
o Replace the oil pump with the revised part. See EPC for details of the spares kit.
o Replace the oil pressure switch.
o Ensure the CCU calibration is up to date.
Ø Bikes fitted with the new pump:
o Confirm the engine has been filled with the correct grade oil and that the oil level is
correct.
o Measure the oil pressure with the engine up to temperature. At idle, the pressure
should be ~0.35 bar and at 5,000 rpm 3.25 bar. If the pressure is low, investigate as
normal.
o If the measured pressure is OK, replace the oil pressure switch.
o Ensure the CCU calibration is up to date.

the VIN, odo reading, exact details of the symptoms reported, confirmation of the installed CCU
software version, measured oil pressure figures and details of any fitted aftermarket
accessories.
