Front Outboard Seat Belts May Not Retract Properly - X90 Warranty Extension
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves inspecting both of the front seat belt retractor D-rings for cracks, whitening or
witness marks on the plastic overmolds.

NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles within the following markets/countries: North
America, APAC, EMEA and LATAM.
NOTE:
• This bulletin applies to WD vehicles built on or before July 26, 2015 (MDH 0726XX).
• This bulletin applies to WK vehicles built on or after June 01, 2013 (MDH 0601XX) and on
or before July 26, 2015 (MDH 0726XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Customers may comment on one or more of the following:
• The front driver and or passenger seat belts may not retract properly.
• A front seat belt D-ring plastic is cracked.
DIAGNOSIS:
If the customer describes the symptom/condition listed, perform the Inspection Procedure.

1. Open the front door.
2. Using a flashlight or equivalent light, inspect both front door seat belt retractor D-rings for
cracking, stress whitening, or witness marks on the D-ring plastic overmold (Fig. 1) .

CAUTION! Whitening or stress marks may occur prior to a crack in the seat belt retractor
D-ring(s) (Fig. 1) . If found, these seat belt retractor D-ring(s) must be replaced.
Failure to replace a seat belt retractor D-ring with whitening or stress marks, may
result in future D-ring failures.
3. Was any cracking, stress whitening or witness marks (Fig. 1) , found on the plastic seat belt
retractor D-rings?
• YES >>> Proceed to Step 1 of the Repair Procedure.
• NO >>> This bulletin has been completed, use inspection LOP (23-13-02-90) to close the
bulletin.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
NOTE: Only replace the front seat belt retractor assemblies with D-rings that are cracked,
showing stress whitening, or witness marks (Fig. 1) .
1. Replace the front seat belt retractor assembly. Refer to the detailed procedures available in
DealerCONNECT > Service Library> under: 10 - Restraints / Retractor, Seat Belt / Removal
and Installation (Front).
POLICY:
Vehicles included in this Service Bulletin have a warranty extension to a 15 Year/Unlimited Mileage
from in-service date warranty period for this repair. See Warranty Bulletins: U.S. D-21-04, Canada
SAB 2021-05, International ID-21-06 and Mexico BG-02-21, for details associated with the warranty
extension.
