SUBJECT:
Transmission Oil Pan Leaking
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves inspecting and if necessary resealing the transmission oil pan.

NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles within the following markets/countries: NAFTA,
EMEA, APAC and LATAM.
NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or after October 10, 2016 (MDH 1010XX) and
on or before March 31, 2017 (MDH 0331XX) equipped with a 6.7L I6 Cummins Turbo
Diesel Engine (Sales Code ETK) and 6-SPD Automatic 68RFE Transmission (Sales
Code DG7).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Some customers or technicians may experience a transmission oil leak. Upon further investigation,
a technician may find the transmission oil pan is leaking in this suspected area (Fig. 1) .

DIAGNOSIS:
If a customer’s VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the repair. For all other customers
that describe the symptom/condition listed above, perform the Repair Procedure.
1. Verify if the transmission oil pan is leaking.
Is transmission fluid leaking from the transmission oil pan?
a. YES>>> Continue with the Repair Procedure. Proceed to Step 1.
b. NO>>> This bulletin has been completed, use LOP (21-55-01-98) to close the active RRT.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in
DealerCONNECT> TechCONNECT under: Service Info>04 - Vehicle Quick Reference/Hoisting/
Standard Procedure Standard Procedure - Hoisting.
2. Remove transmission oil pan by removing the bolts holding the pan to transmission.
3. Slowly separate front of pan away from transmission allowing the fluid to drain into drain pan.
4. While holding pan level, lower pan away from transmission.
5. Pour remaining fluid in pan into drain pan and dispose of properly do not reuse old fluid.
6. Using a suitable gasket scraper, clean original sealing material from surface of transmission
case and the transmission oil pan.
7. Place bead of MoparT part # 05010884AD RTV sealant onto the transmission oil pan sealing
surface.
8. Place pan in position on transmission.
9. Install oil pan. Tighten pan bolts to 12 N·m (105 in. lbs.) torque.
10. Lower the vehicle. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT>
TechCONNECT under: Service Info>04 - Vehicle Quick Reference/Hoisting/Standard Procedure
Standard Procedure - Hoisting.
11. Fill transmission with MoparT ATF +4 to proper level. Refer to the detailed service procedures
available in DealerCONNECT> TechCONNECT under: Service Info>21 - Transmission and
Transfer Case/Automatic - 68RFE/Fluid/Standard Procedure>Transmission Fill> or 04 - Vehicle
Quick Reference/Capacities and Recommended Fluids/Specifications>Transmission.
12. Start the vehicle and check for leaks.
