Purpose:
If you are experiencing repeated failures of the main pressure tube (PN 1137938 or PN 1597692)
at or near the welded saddle port and have replaced the tube, McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing
offers these instructions for an alternate option to help reduce the repeated failures of the tube. The
instructions are to replace the ejector force limited tube (PN 1137935), which attaches to the main
pressure tube (PN 1137938 or PN 1597692), with a flexible hose. A flexible hose may allow for less
tension on the rigid tube and help reduce frequent failures. A flexible hose 14”-16” in length will be
required. This flexible hose may be purchased from McNeilus Parts.

• All procedures outlined in the bulletin must be performed by skilled service personnel. Refer to
the product service manual for descriptions of maintenance procedures.

Procedure
Parts location
The tube (PN 1137938 or PN 1597692), which may be the subject of repeated failures and repeated
replacement, is highlighted in Figure 1.

The location of typical failure is at or near the welded saddle port, as shown in Figure 2.

In an effort to help reduce repeated failures on tube (PN 1137938 or PN 1597692), replace the tube
(PN 1137935) that connects PN 1137938 or PN 1597692 to the ejector force limiter with a flexible hose
(PN 1559615). The location of the ejector force limited tube (PN 1137935) is shown in Figure 3.

To replace with the flexible hose:
1. Perform your company’s Lockout/Tagout procedure. If your company does not have a Lockout/
Tagout procedure, follow OSHA 1910.147 and 1910.146 Confined Space as appropriate. Chock
wheels and engage the service brake.
2. Place an oil collection pan under the tubes.
3. Disconnect the ejector force limiter tube (PN 1137935) (green tube shown in Figure 3).
4. Connect the flexible hose.
5. Use a torque wrench to tighten to proper torque specifications (see Service Manual for torque
specifications).
6. Remove your company’s Lockout/Tagout procedure. If your company does not have a Lockout/
Tagout procedure, follow OSHA 1910.147 and 1910.146 Confined Space as appropriate.
7. Ensure there are no leaks.
8. Dispose of the collected oil according to proper standards and laws.
9. Installation is complete. Return truck to service.
