Dear Dealers,
We would like to inform you that the vehicles covered by this Pre-Delivery Campaign require
an update of the ABS control unit software and a check of IMU sensor correct assembly during
Pre-Delivery operations, hence before motorcycle delivery to the final Customer.
WARNING
On the frame numbers involved in this Pre-Delivery Campaign it will NOT be possible
to activate the warranty until the campaign is completed and it will NOT be possible
to deactivate the "Transport Mode" until the update is carried out.
Failure to update the ABS control unit/check for IMU sensor correct assembly will result in:
ABS warning light flashing on the instrument panel, ABS Cornering strategy not working, and
presence of errors in the memory.
All other pre-delivery requirements (see check list for the involved model), including road
test, remain valid.
The update is divided into 3 phases (described in detail below):

Connect the DDS 3.0 diagnosis instrument to the vehicle and run a Global
Scan that will show a forced update for the ABS control unit, as well as any
updates available for the other control units.
After the ABS control unit update, the DDS 3.0 will automatically set the ABS
control unit to EOL (End Of Line) mode. Run a new Global Scan to detect the
ABS in EOL mode; then launch the test to check the correct assembly of the
IMU sensor.
When the test has a positive outcome, run another Global Scan to remove the
"Transport Mode".

Customer Impact
All motorcycles in your inventory (to be registered or already registered) and to be delivered to
final Customers must be updated during pre-delivery operations and always before delivery to
the final Customer. This update must be completed during PDI on all affected VINs.
Parts Distribution
No spare parts are required.
Warranty Reimbursement Rules
Reimbursement for work associated with this Pre-delivery Campaign will be made through the
regular warranty claim procedure using the “VIN History” section of the DCS. The warranty
claim is pre-filled and is identified as CR234.
The dealership will be reimbursed for a labor time of
including the time necessary for:
•

Vehicle reception

•

Application of the software update and IMU inspection

•

Soft cleaning of the vehicle

for the operation,

No spare parts are required.
Service Solution
WARNING
To ensure the correct execution of the operation within the provided labor time to
carry out the updates, it is necessary to follow the sequence indicated in the
following instructions.
For the update procedure, follow the instructions below:
1. Connect the workshop power supply unit to the vehicle, switch it on (checking that the
charge warning light comes on correctly) and perform a key ON.
2. Connect the DDS 3.0 diagnosis instrument to the power supply unit and run a Global Scan
which will show a forced update for the ABS control unit (Software Version 85934_017).

3. After the ABS control unit update, the DDS 3.0 will automatically set the ABS to EOL
mode and inform you that the correct IMU sensor assembly check is required (“Correct
IMU sensor assembly check”).

4. Upon the next Global Scan, the DDS 3.0 will guide you through the procedure for checking
the IMU sensor correct assembly.
NOTE
To carry out this check, the motorcycle must be placed on the center or rear
paddock stand.

5. At the end of the procedure, if the test outcome was successful, the DDS 3.0 will suggest
you run a new Global Scan and will finally ask you to remove the "Transport Mode"
function. After the "Transport Mode" has been removed, an error deletion procedure must
be carried out.
6. If the test ends with errors, you must:
a. Access “ABS Diagnosis” select the “Settings” window and click on “ABS setting in EOL
mode”. Then set the ABS control unit in EOL mode
b. Check that the software version of the ABS control unit is the correct, in Info ECU ABS,
field BB number (algorithm) = 85934
c. Check the shape of the IMU sensor Support Bracket to confirm part number is
8301B191BA

d. Check that IMU sensor Part Number is 38540073B by referencing that the Bosch Part
Number is 0265011028
e. If any nonconformities are discovered, create a Youtech request describing what as
found. Include any useful photos and/or DDS documentation.
7. Perform a soft cleaning and remove the vehicle from the rear paddock stand
