Levante M161 MY22 – Internal Tail Lamp Check

Certain MY22 Maserati Levante’s listed in MODISCS+ are involved in a Service Campaign concerning the
check of the integrity of the Internal Tail Lamp.
This intervention is needed to exclude any internal crack into the tail lamp that could lead to water ingress
or fogging issue.
Please read and review this bulletin first before starting the procedure.

Always check in ModisCS+ to see if the vehicle is involved in this campaign and if the
campaign has not been previously performed.

2.

Open and close the rear trunk lid door (tailgate)10 times using the power trunk button.
Caution: Do not force the tailgate open or close by hand. Doing so may damage the tailgate motors.

3.

With a low-pressure water spray imitating medium to heavy rainfall, spray the LH and RH internal tail
lamps 90 secs each. (a total of 3 minutes for both) Caution: Make sure the rear trunk lid door (tailgate)
is fully closed. Do not use a high-pressure water jet.

4.

Heat each rear internal lamp for 2 minutes with a common/domestic hair dryer (1500-1800W) at a
distance of 30-40 cm.

5.

Check for the presence of fog, moisture, water infiltration, and/or cracks. SEE PIC 1

PICTURE 1

If water infiltration/fog/moisture and/or cracks are not present, the internal tail lamp can be
considered OK. ►The operation is completed. No further action required.

7.

If water infiltration/fog/moisture and/or cracks are present, the internal taillight must be considered as
NOT OK and must be replaced. ►Replace only the defective tail light following one of the procedures
below:

8.31.003.0 INSIDE RH. TAILLIGHT – Removal/refitting or replacement
8.31.004.0 INSIDE LH. TAILLIGHT – Removal/refitting or replacement

Inspect the external taillight as well following the conditions below:
▪

Moisture/fog or cracks are present in the external taillight and the vehicle does not apply to
Campaign 467 ► Open a BOL for “SUPPORT REQUEST” attach pictures, vehicle scan, and
await further instructions.

▪

If Campaign 467 does apply to the vehicle ► Follow the instructions per Campaign 467.
BOL submission is not necessary.

▪

Internal taillight replacement for this campaign only ► BOL submission is not necessary.

The procedure is completed.
