• The customer complains that the vehicle sporadically cannot be started.
• The yellow gearbox warning light may be illuminated.
• One or both of the following DTCs may be present:
• DTC P157000 (Control Module Locked, sporadic) - in the engine control module, J623 (address word 01)
• DTC P170100 (Transmission control module locked, sporadic) - in the transmission control module, J217
(address word 02)

Technical Background
The remote key being used is transmitting incomplete immobilizer information to the vehicle, resulting in the
condition.

Production Solution
Improved software for the comfort system central control module, J393 (address word 46) in production. Service
software update will follow at a later date (to be determined).

Service
• For A6/A7 vehicles before VIN DN021776, or for A8 vehicles before VIN DN005692, replace the affected
remote key and perform the SVM code below.
• For A6/A7 vehicles after VIN DN021776, or for A8 vehicles after VIN DN005692, only perform the SVM code
below.
• For A6/A7 vehicles after VIN DN082395 & MY14, or for A8 vehicles after VIN DN017159 & MY14, do not
perform any repairs. Instruct customer they may have to cycle ignition start/stop switch.
SVM Update Instructions
1. Follow all instructions in the TSB, 2011732: 00 Software Version Management (SVM), operating instructions.
2. Update the comfort control system module, J393 (address word 46), using the SVM action code as listed in the
table below if necessary.
